And it seems the Finnish pilot Lassi Nurila really is a rising star. He is very persistent in F3A competitions here in Europe like in the FAI F3A World Cup (that he won 2016 and 2017). I will not be surprised if he is on the podium in future World Championships. /Bo |

The Karat biplane looks very nice. Robin Trumpp has even a turboprop Jet version of it I can see. There is a short video of the turboprop Karat at Robin Trumpp Facebook.

Re: F3A European Championship - Grandrieu, Belgium. 21st to 28th July 2018 « Reply #20 on: Yesterday at 05:58:44 AM » Saturday With the final rounds being split between two days the atmosphere on the field feels less tense than on previous final days. I got to the field just after 09:00 and there were a few people around. Flying started at 10:00. It was all to fly for. Christophe had missed a few snaps, Lassi was on form and so was Sandro both of whom I thought could have won. I don't think I have seen a final as I witnessed on Saturday. Gernot appeared to be having difficulty in the wind which was blowing hard out at 90 degrees to the flight line, Lassi put in a fantastic flight just as the wind increased, it was a joy to watch him hit the verticals with just the right amount of compensation to hold the line, every time in all directions and the increased applause as he landed was understandable. Earlier I had Lassi and Sandro in the running for top spot and Christophe needed a very good flight to have any chance, and what a flight that turned out to be, the cross wind was still blowing hard, the YS was on song, needing close to if not full power at times, but did it pull the Galactika+ through the manoeuvres. One snap exit slightly under rotated but the rest was incredible. The rest is history as they say but I don't think I have seen Christophe so happy to be European Champion. I have upload all the photographs to the photo gallery now but the captions will have to be added later. |
Its interesting to see almost an even split between biplanes and monos in the top 10, with the preference being a either a 2 or 3 blade prop powerplants. I thought there would have been a few more contra units in the mix.
I'm pretty sure even CPLR's cardiovascular system runs on 30% nitro. ;) |
