New Fliton Element 30 F3A plane!

1 Attachment(s)
Just saw this on another site.

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=653477

I grabbed one of the pics from that site, but can't find anything on it through Fliton. What do you think? Looks pretty interesting. Not for 3D, just precision pattern.

i saw this post too and boy, is this thing pretty. cant wait for it to come out, i have been eyeing a pattern plane this size and the other ones just didnt do it for me. Did you see the canard landing gears? how original for this size!

Hi Guys,
I did get excited when I saw this as at the moment I am flying a TM models POWER 90 which happens to look excactly like a big Fliton Element, I love my power, I'm not a three D flyer typically and have set my power up with a Saito125a and spin an Apc16x8 at the moment and this is a really nice pattern combo, not too fast and very quiet, The hardware like horns and pushrods is exceptional too, ballraced horns with ball joints on the servo end of the pushrod, all great stuff.
I'm going to keep my eyes open for an Australian supply of this smaller one as it looks brilliant Interestingly the one peice wing version is the big one?
I have tried acouple times to pload a picture of the power for you guysto see but it keeps cominmg up as an error, heres a link to look at it for those who want to see for themselves, the link is from the distributor that I use for my business so there are no prices on his site just pictures.

I really like how they did the bottom. It's classic Fliton flair done with taste.

looks like the new scheme is a lot better then the first one. good job fliton.

I cant wait to get one. I want to fly pattern next year with an electric....this might be just the ticket.
Ive been holding off until I could find a good plane to run electric.
The current offerings just were way out of my price range.

Anyone know what would be the recommended electric set-up for this bird?

Edit....nevermind...read the fliton site. Sweet.

Check out the way they made the clip for the wing attachments.

Im assuming that it will have a tube spar...YIPPEEE
Also, I like the airfoiled horizontal stab.

Hoping this is the one.

Neat, I didn't even notice that before.

As for the power system, it'll be like the AJ Extra. Basically anything in the 400-600 watts range will power it sufficiently. The plane will come in around 3 lbs or so. I've got a 4S 2200 setup in my AJX and it's BALLISTIC!

Im soooooo happy they didnt cover it in that transparent covering. Thats what held me off from buying a Inspire.

Then you'd be pleased with this also :D.

Oh, dont get me wrong...I like the inspire 90, but its WAY out of what I could afford to put together.
I need to start a little smaller than that....the Element looks to be just about right.

I am told first week of may. i am waiting for this bird over the other ones in the market because i know flitons reputation for good precision planes. the hooks for the wing attachment are awesome! it looks like they just click on and off like snowboarding boots. cant wait.

RE: New Fliton Element 30 F3A plane!

The clip on wings worry me a little, but since this bird doesn't have huge control surfaces it should hold. I'm sure they put it through at least one test flight.[&:]

RE: New Fliton Element 30 F3A plane!

The clip on wings actually have been in use with the Inspire 60, as well as the AJ Extra 330S. So far, there have been NO reports of failure yet. So I feel pretty secure using them. Early May is probably a bit optimistic, but Mid-Late May is a more realistic deal as long as it doesn't get held up at the customs.

Anyone going to Toledo? It might be there at least as a promo material

I saw it a little while ago and now I have been wondering if I should get the vanquish F3A or this one... Both look very pretty but I might even like Vanquish better, I will choose after hearing some flight reports :)

RE: New Fliton Element 30 F3A plane!

Ive been looking at the Vanquish too, I too am waiting for more information.
Im hoping to see a video soon that should give us some idea of what it flys like.
I just hope they dont give us a video of it 3D'ing. Id like to see what it can do in precision.

Im leaning towards the Element due to it having an airfoiled horizontal stab unlike the flat stab on the Vanquish

What kind of maneuvers do you want to see in the video?

Folks,
I got it from a reliable source(Chris Hinton) that EF is going to market a 2M Vanquish. Unknown as to when or how much but that should be a winner, too!

RE: New Fliton Element 30 F3A plane!

Honestly, Id like to see them get a pattern pilot to fly a pattern sequence with it. Sportsman, Intermediate, Advanced, Masters, F3A...doesnt matter. I just want to see how it performs in precision vs the yank/bank style of many of the videos. Afterall, it is a pattern plane....show it in its element. (pun intended)

Perhaps two videos. One to demonstrate its precision capabilities, and one for its 3D aspects

BoneDoc 04-16-2007 11:55 PM

RE: New Fliton Element 30 F3A plane!

So just make my loops circular and my square.. well ... square right :D. Honestly, this would be more of a pattern ship anyway, and it'll be great to extend my flying repertoire. It can probably do mild 3D given its smaller control surfaces.

Btw, any of you guys saw this at Toledo?

RE: New Fliton Element 30 F3A plane!

Thats one of the things that bothered me about the Rogue3D. Fliton has a nice 3D video up there with it harrier, and torque rolling, etc. But the rogue really tracks like its on rails. I think they missed an opportunity with the video to also sell them to people interested in precision. I have the Rogue3D, and its about as close to a pattern biplane as you can get. The Rogue is what really sold me on the Fliton brand. I got mine from Shulman Aviation, and after seeing its build, and covering job. NO OTHER ARF comes close. I was in awe when I opened it up for the first time.

The element has that airfoiled stab which should make it track even better. I have a feeling its gonna be glassy smooth. Cant wait to get one.

RE: New Fliton Element 30 F3A plane!

got to see the element 30 f3a at toledo and it is insanely nice. the clip on wings were very tough, i tried to pull it apart but it wouldn't budge.

i think the precision video idea would not work for comparison of two planes, unless you did them indoor. wind factor plays a huge role in precision sequences but looking at both the vanquish and element side by side, I am waiting for the element. all in all, it is a nicer pattern plane and i can tell it will fly more better precision. the vanquish is designed for both whereas the element is 90% precision. it looks so nice in real life, i think just about everyone wanted one.

RE: New Fliton Element 30 F3A plane!

Hey guys, I thought I'd bring this thread back up to the top with a little bit more info. These are some build photos that are made available to me. Looks like a winner, and it seems that Fliton is listening to our input regarding magnetic hatch and an easier way still to put the wing together.

I love them wheel pants also :D.

Can't wait to get mine.

RE: New Fliton Element 30 F3A plane!

So has anybody actually flown this yet. I'd sure like to hear a flight report. I'm especially interested in hearing about the construction quality. Two pilots in my group have flown Flitons and swear they'll never go back, they were horribly weak all over. The cowls are made of cheap plastic that cracks and splits if you even look at it wrong, the gear fold on anything but a perfect 3-point landing, and the balsa joints aren't glued well. I'm hoping with this larger plane maybe it'll be robust enough to actually fly without exploding mid-air.

And when I say exploding mid-air, that's not an exaggeration. The last fliton kit I saw the cowl popped off as it was doing a high-speed pattern pass, and then it literally exploded, body pulled apart and the wings ripped off, and the carcass came down in a heaping pile of balsa and plastic. I think without the cowl it just became an airscoop in the body and it pulled itself apart.

But they make such pretty planes to look at. And this one has caught my eye more than the others. But I want to fly it fast, 5S probably. Anybody know of any video yet? The silly Fliton site always mentions videos on their planes, and says click on the video button, but there's no video button.
