rules or guides to follow?

Is there any rules of thumb when picking a setup?
I think you people may talk about plane weight vs watts required...

40 to 50 planes usually arround 5-6lbs ... 1000 watts?
90 planes arround 8.5 oz.... 1600 watts maybe?

am I too wrong?

Thanx

RE: rules or guides to follow?

For pattern: 200-250Watt/kilo. 6lbs need 7-800 Watt. So you are right.
Rather a bit too much than lack of power.

200 Watts per pound. A 5 kilo (11 lb.) pattern plane needs about 2200 Watts. Of course the more the better as long as you keep the weight down.
