Good suppliers
We often read about the bad stuff that happens but very seldom hear the good news when it comes to the equipment we use. I decided it is time to compliment a couple of companies that have taken some flak in the past. First is Thunder Power. I had complained recently that cell six in all my Thunder Power packs always seemed to run at a higher voltage and it was difficult to keep the cells balanced. Then I noticed that the LED in one of my balancers seemed dimmer than the others and yes it was on cell 6. I sent it to them and even though it was two years old they fixed it on warranty and had it back to me in about one week. Now I have no problem with cell six running high. I have also heard of more than one case of them replacing TP Extremes that had trouble balancing, on warranty. So good for them, it looks like they are taking care of their old customers.
Jeti has produced very good speed controllers but the Spin 99 has not performed as well as their other stuff. Mine finally failed completely and I sent it off to the Czech Republic not knowing if I'd ever see it again. I also sent a friend's ESC that I had burned up by reversing the polarity which I told them. After what seemed like two months a package arrived with two new ESCs and no bill. It looks like they have made some mods to the Spin 99 so I'm anxious to see if they've fixed the rough starting I've experienced. It is not that bad of a problem but the Hacker/Jeti Master 90 spoiled me. With the flip of a switch it is idling at about 500 rpm. In the long run I'd like to use the Spin because I was getting use to using the brake function and data logging that the Master 90 doesn't have. Anyway it is makes life a little nicer when folks stand behind their products. Jim O |
