Speed Control Fire
1 Attachment(s)
Here is the result (I'm assuming) of running 68 amps or more throught a 70 amp HV speed control. The flight was only approximately 3 minutes into the advanced profile. The lipos are fine. My biggest question is why did the voltage regulator to the receiver fry too?

OUCH!!!
Kurt, if the ESC shorted the power leads from the receiver, that might take out the regulator. Who knows what was happening during the 'fire'. Sorry for your loss.... Woodie |

RE: Speed Control Fire
Who's ESC is it?
I had a Jeti 99 go up like turn into a charcoal briquet, luckily the plane was largely undamaged (I was running only 68-72 amps through it as well.) Sorry to see that. |
RE: Speed Control Fire
My setup was cheap, aside from the Lipos. The esc was a Tower Pro - I am trying to find the instructions that came with it to make sure I did not exceed the max voltage. I thought it handled up to 12 lipo cells. The regulator was also cheap - it was probably a Tower Pro or something similar. I know, I know, you get what you pay for!
