Safety question
 

I am starting on my first larger electric project. I will be running 2 3-cell packs in parallel through a Y harness. My concern is that once you plug one of the male connectors on the Y to the female on one of the packs, the other male on the Y becomes ''hot''. Is anyone else concerned about this, and what approach do you use? Also, does anyone have a link to plans and instructions for Y harnesses? I will be using Deans plugs.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to do using a y harness? To connect 2 packs in parallel You should be using a parellel deans connector which will then plug into your ESC.

Because I didn't know about the parallel connector. Thanks for the tip. I found this link http://www.google.com/products?sourc...num=1&ct=title where they have both parallel connectors, and Y harneses.

I am still a little wary of having a ''hot'' male plug dangling about. even for just a couple of seconds. Brain farts often happen in milliseconds.

Just use an extra Dean's connector as a saftey cap on the second end of the Y harness until you are ready to plug in the second battery. You will of course, have to insulate the unsed pins on the saftey cap.
