Contro- Rotating Setup

I am toying with the idea to build a contra-rotating setup and.... here is where i get stuck

PROPS!!!

The only supplier I can find that would have props in the range I want is... ZINGER wood props.

These props are IC props. So, my second thoughts are to run a higher KV motor, Smaller diameter props that the 20" variety to get the props to spin in the 7500-8000 range in order to make them perform.

Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

Also, if running two outrunner.... do you think you can run smaller motors...

EX. I currently use a 6360~ 2400 watt motor

would two 5060~ 1650 watts each produce similiar total watts?

curiousity has got me!!!

This is setup idea #1.....

two Dualsky 5060-10 motors swinging the Zinger 18X12 and the Zinger 18x14R trimmed to 17X14R in back

second prop setup is the 18X14R in front and the 18X16 trimmed to 17X16 in the rear.

Thoughts????

Anyone???

You might try emailing Michael Ramel in Germany. I believe he has experience with contra-rotating props.

Call Jarvis at MAXX Prod. They work on Contra-rotating motor for years. The CR5025 maybe the one you need.

Hello,
The torque-sharing contra-rotating gearbox is the superior approach: it assures that the spiral airflow does not exist over the full range of motor power and airspeed.
Very sophisticated electronics would be necessary to slave the rear motor ESC to the front one in order to produce the same effect with two motors.
No one makes this device yet.

RE: Contro- Rotating Setup

There are two approaches for CR props setup.
1. Single motor with gearbox: Silvestri used in F3A World Championship, 2007, you may find pix in RCU. As I know it is not commercialize yet
2. Two back-to-back motors with a hollow shaft in front motor. ESCs are not issue. Trick is the rear prop has less pitch than the front due to wash airflow after first prop. Call Jarvis of MAXX Prod. He has been played this for years.

Hope this will help.
