Any news re the new hub yet.
When will it be available ??.

I plan to post some info, but have been really busy getting everything ready for the Worlds. Just test flying my second model today, and leaving for a contest on the weekend.

A 6 month pregnant wife is not helping either LOL :D

Does this hub look like the EAST R/C hub? A flat bar with slots for the prop on the end?

There are many differences between this hub and what east rc is making

The east rc hub was based off a drawing I did a long time ago but was not made to the specifications I had originally intended. The bolts used are #8 and not M4 the material is 6061 and not 7075 and I have no idea what the tolerances are.

The hubs that we are making are made as I want them. They are 4mm larger in diameter. More material removed to reduce the weight. Made from 7075 for greater strength to reduce the chance of the holes elongating which can happen over time with 6061. Also they are produced in a very high end shop that produces mountain bike parts and are specialists in aluminum. This allows us to hit the nominal dimensions to within a half thou which makes for a hub that is very smooth and will not vibrate.

I'm sure Chads hub is first rate, but at least in DK the import taxes on items purchased from outside the EU are rater high, so when possible I look for a european alternative. Lorenz has a new hub available now that looks quite nice.

Just what i was looking for!

Now it`s time to find out the Rasa numbers ( dimension/load ). If i understand this correctly, i need to look at the combination : number and size to get the flying caracteristic and load for my C50 14XL... I saw some numbers in an previous post somewhere here,i better do some study ... :)

For the technologically challenged amongst us( me in particular), can anyone state with authority:
which Rasa folding prop will be most similar in performance,to APC 21X14, or 20.5X14?

There is no exact comparison to the APC 21x14, but the closest is the 21x15 (I forget the mag #) in my opinion to those two props, but it is still a bit different.

If you are looking for more speed, then the 20.2x17 provides a good alternative.

Does this look correct?
The props can’t fold back-should the spinner backplate be notched to allow some backward movement?
Altrnatively, the blades can be pulled forwards against what seems to be fairly slight frictional resistance . Does this happen in-flight at all?

OK,so no replies to previous post-so went out and flew anyway.
First impressionsseems nicevery quiet, adequate performance, smooth, if a little slower than APC21X14and snaps seem easier to control.
Slight worrythe back of the blades have been marked(can't really say grooved,fortunately) by the rim of the aluminium spinner backplate.
What do you think? Could this be a problem in the longer term?

I had the same issue with a couple of my spinners. A plastic one I have had grooves that I did end up filing down to allow movement. Seemed to work pretty well, I wouldn't worry about doing if you make sure it's fairly even on both sides of the spinner.

Sorry I missed this question!

My models I use the 3.25" TT spinner, and don't notch the backplate at all or do anything to allow any additional rearward movement. The small scores on the prop don't seem to bother them at all, I have flown lots of flights with them like this so I don't think its much of a worry point.

I have ran a slightly larger diameter hub than what is available for sale, that would allow full rearward movement and the prop never hit the fuse :) So I dont think you should worry about allowing too much movement either!

Thanks Chad-that's all very reassuring!
I'm ancient enough to be worried at seeing score marks near the centre of things like props but I guess it's less concerning with a composite material.
