Electric Power Suggestions

I'm looking at the SebArt Wind 110, roughly 8.5lbs. The is designed around a Hacker A50 16L and 8S battery setup but the reports are suggesting more power. Installation is specific to Hacker, so that and Scorpion are the two direct-fit options that I know of. I don't want to start hacking up the nose of the plane.

I'll throw out another suggestion for a motor - The E-Flite Power 110. I have a Focus Sport with this motor, 8S Rhino 4900 batterys, and CC 85HV esc. This is a great combination for Pattern. I'd think the Focus Sport and your airplane are very similar in size and weight so the E-Flite Power 110 should be a very good combination for you also. My plane weighs just under 10 lbs. takeoff weight and speed and vertical are all you could want. It will go straight up out of sight.

I know the E-flite 110 is a badass. Unfortunately it won't really fit in the Wind without some serious work.

I notice on your poll you are specifying a 10S setup. I really think you would be better off keeping the plane light by using an 8S setup. It helps with the downline speed among other things. The Scorpion motor in the one I have been flying is S 4025-16. Light, and plenty of power. You may want to add that option to your poll.

Added. I would prefer 8S if it has enough power.

e-flite160 - 10s if over 10 pounds

e-flite110 - 8s is under 10 pounds

Then I suggest a Neu 1512/1.5Y/6.7:1/F on 8S.

I love Neu motors, but lots of extra work to mount the inrunner. I don't think he feels confident in taking that on at this point.

It is not necessarily given that a 10s set-up is heavier than an 8s set-up.
It all depends on battery capacity.

Thanks. I'm going to do the Scorpion 4035 with 10S, and experiment with 4000 and 5000mah batteries. An 8S with 5000 is similar in weight to a 10S with 4000 batteries.

Still trying to learn about this stuff, but it seems to make sense to use more voltage rather than more amperage to make the power.
