LiFePO4:

no danger of fire from overcharging
3 year shelf life with little loss of capacity or charge
3.0 to 3.3 volt per cell normal range
3.6 volts fully charged
doesn't suffer from voltage depression (memory effect)
lighter than NiMH or NiCd
no cell damage until 2.6 volts

I just ordered the 9.9 volt 2100 mAh LiFePO4 pack for my 12X. Personally my 12X NiMh battery is in good shape, but the ability to fly for an hour and then bring the TX home and "top it off" with no fear of degrading the battery, as well as the ability to leave the TX alone for January, February, and March and pick it up in April with no need to "re-break-in" the battery is enormous. Not to mention that the battery can even be charged using the supplied wall charger. I will post my conversion pics when I get the battery. I will be honestly shocked if this does not become the standard TX battery within a couple of years, and I would hope that rxs and servos move to this battery as well!

Can't believe no one found this interesting. You know LiFe was advertised in the March K-Factor on the back of the cover page and Hacker has a brand new line of Top Fuel LiFe cells. I think this is the future as they are so much safer than Lipo only slightly heavier and have the same discharge capability of Lipo.

Anyways converted my 12X today and thought someone might find it interesting.

That's some eye you have for detail, young man :) Soon to be a Pletty powered Integral none the less. If the weather holds it'll be in Lakehurst with me on Saturday so Chris can take it home and do the mod.

I used the rx pack at our Nats. ,very nice and it takes 15 min to charge 800 mah at 4 C ![8D]

Bought an Rx pack last week since my Nimh had taken to much beating. This thing works very well, really like that I dont have to think about proper cycling.

What about useing this packs in a Futaba 9Z WC II ?. I have my oldy and trusted TX but the batteries not last long and the voltage drop fast. The Bateries have a diode with a chargeing plug, I think it´s like your 12X.

This is one that I think everyone should try . . . really.

And then tell JR and Futaba to dump the old NiMh technology in favor of this. Their is simply no comparison.

Hi,

The new Futaba 18MZ that is supposed to be released in October has LiPo transmitter battery, 7.4V, 3500mAh.
Strange they did not use LiFe battery instead.
