Default ULTIMATE speed motor?

What is the best all out brushless speed motor for a SLIPSO 400 club pylon racer?

How much room do you have for batteries? What do you want your RTF weight to be? Do you have Carbon Fiber??

THe web site recomends a Himax 2025 5300Kv motor for it and that would be really quick and light. An airframe this small would be difficult to launch over say 18 ozs. There are many motors available this size that would really scream, but you have to have the batteries to take the current. How fast do you want to go and for how long?

Just downloaded the Slipso 400 plans and bought a laser cut short kit. I plan to use the following motors:

Emax 2805 2800Kv out-runner on 3S 1300's and 4.75 x 4.75 prop
Turnigy 2040 2080Kv in-runner on 3S 1050's and 5 x 5 prop
Turnigy 2040 4850Kv in-runner on 3S 1300's and 4.1 x 4.1 prop
Turnigy 2040 4850Kv in-runner on 2S 1500's and 4.5 x 4.5 prop
Turnigy 28-30-3000Kv out-runner on 2S 1300's and 4.75 x 4.75 prop

Key to the Slipso 400 is to keep it under 16 ounces. (my opinion) It is a small airframe. It will hold up to 3S 1800's from what I can tell and with the right motor you can get up to say 500 watts in it. Now with that being said, the wing mounts need to be beefed up and the wing will have to be built with carbon spar caps and completely glassed in a vacuum bag or it will blow apart with 200 watts. The designer of the Slipso had a 160km/hr limit on the plans.

Another airframe to consider is the Whisper 400. It is a bit larger airframe and plans cost $18. It is a V-tail mid wing model that people have flow with 400 watts.

I ended up getting a Eflite Six Series 2700 KV inrunner, and a Turnigy 3s 1800mah pack.

I might go with the 3s 1350mah li-po for weight reasons.
