i dont believe there is any reason to get the hummingbird v1 unless you can save a lot of money..
the vII seems to have a lot of upgrades built in, as far as i know

I have a HB 2. I am currently flying it totally stock with the mixer/gyro board in one unit. I fought it for quite a while, but I think everyone has a steep learning curve for these things. If you would have asked a month or so ago, I would have suggested that you look into other models. Now that I have a pretty good understanding of what it takes to make it go, I have no problems recommending the HB. I do suggest that you get the separate mixer board and gyro, not the combo board. I think that will give you added flexibility to change gyros in the future.

Is it possible to make the humming bird a hevy lifter such as a can of pop. a heavy torque moter such as a speed 400?

A speed 400 motor would probably be oversized/heavy...

If you want good power then brushless and 3cell lipoly is probably the way to go.
