Whats too hot? mine gets hot to the touch.. I can't keep my fingers on it..., and I have a DF blowing across it... high authority as well.... I think my gets to hot as well, so I put a heatsink on it from helihobby upgrades for the piccolo pro... same motors I think...

3 Cell Lipo battery? If it is then its not rated for those small motors. @ 11.1V you will surley burn out your tail motor. I use a 7.4 V Lipo @ 1320MAH for my dragon fly its perfect I get 16 to 18 minutes of flight time. Rember that peak voltage for a 7.4V lipo is 8.2V and its considerd discharged @ 7V you can damamge it if you go below 3 V per cell. And a 8.4V Nimh is peaked at 9.8 to 10.2 will be discharged @ 7.4V. You are also asking a lot of your ESC at that voltage.

I have 11.1v LiPos on my Hummingbird Elite and I have never felt either motor warm.
I was expecting that and got the heat sink for the tail motor but - no need!
Course my flights are really really short since I am learning.

That may not have anything to do with the battery. Try flexing the blades down a bit and see if a little more pitch on them will help. If you adjust the tracking of the blades and the habit is to always take the one that seems lower and flex it up then you could very well be taking pitch out of them, or the factory may have just not put enough in. As for the 11.1. V battery if you get any substantial running time on the heli, unless you have upgraded you will most certainly burn out the motors.
