I use a 14T and run mine at 1750 for 3D on 515 CF symmetricals, but I'm using a Kontronik 600-18 FUN. For normal light stuff, I run at 1450-1500. Flies longer.

Hi bladebender,

Ralf from Mikado does 3-D at 1550 rpm with a lightweight LOGO 10. I used to run at 1825 rpm, but dropped it back a bit. Som get closer to 2000 rpm, but not many I think.

You motor is not the hottest motor for 3-D. Its rpm/Volt (KV) for that motor is 1610. Left out of the discussion so far is one of the more important factors, since the rpm of the motor is dependent on voltage - how many cells in the battery? With a lower KV motor such as yours, you probably want 13-14 cells. Here's a simple formula that accounts for the voltage drop across the cells under load and comes pretty close to predicting max rpm:

rpm=
#cells x 1.05 V/cell x rpm/volt of motor x #teeth in pinion/200 teeth in spur gear

Assuming 14 cells & 15T pinion:

rpm = 14 x 1.05 x 1610 x 15/200 = 1775 rpm maximum. A throttle setting of 85% or so to allow some headroom for the governor function fo the ESC would give about1700 RPM, I think.

To get the desired rpm with this motor you have to carry the weight of 14 cells, which is an issue. It won't be the best setup, but it should still be fun.

Even at 14 cells the Hacker B50-15L is a dog. It's great for hovering practices, but forget about 3D.

I run 14 cells on Hacker B50-13L after selling my 15L at a loss. Can't believe everything Mikado tells you!

Stephen
