If seen allot of high end gyros that have this feature. Can any one explain to me what this does?

this is the jist of it. It locks your tail so it is even with head speed so you dont spin around......if you spin your heli now your tail motor spins up to counteract it...with heading hold your tail motor will not stop untill the tail is back to the origanol spot.....this is unless you command it on the transmitter. it makes it so you dont need to use your left hand as much...lol

No magnetism. :)
Today's gyros use piezo-electric crystals. When they bend, their electrical properties change, so they can be used to detect a change in the rate of rotation. Non-head holding gyros, or rate gyros, stop here, just providing control input while the rate of rotation is changing. This helps to dampen yaw changes thrown at the heli by the environment.
Head holding gyros go further. They have logic built in to use the rate of rotation information to calculate a heading. This allows a HH gyro to continue to provide control input until the original heading is re-acquired.

Basically, if a heli were hovering, and you reached out and pushed the tail to the side (don't do this, you will cut your finger):

If no gyro were in use, the tail would deflect a large amount.
If a rate gyro were in use, the gyro would tell the tail to take some corrective action, and the result would be that the tail would deflect a smaller amount.
If a HH gyro were in use, the gyro would tell the tail to take corrective action until it was back in the same position it was before you pushed the tail.

If we are discussing which pieces to get, I have put togehter a list that give outstanding performance:

Futaba gy240 $120
schulze s. 105 $55 (?) (or TREC for $74)
pixie 7p $30 (gws ics100 would be cheaper)
3 cell LiPo $35
Charger (lpc-400) $60

3 cell LiPos give better power, and more lifting capability. Needed with the heavy gy240.
The high frequency schulze controller protects the abused tail motor

I have used a lot of different configurations, setting up a half dozen piccolos and a buddy's hummingbird. The configuration I listed gives the best tail control. It is simply the easiest micro heli to fly out of the bunch of them. Any of the heli pilots that are struggling to control their birds do better when they fly this heli.

I do not know if this is the best, but it looks to be the company that offers it. [link=http://www.dionysusdesign.com/trec.shtml]dionysusdesign.com[/link] I have not tried the Trec myself, but base my recommendation on the experiences of many on the boards who do have positive experience.
I was just reading the page for the Trec, and realized I was quoting the price for the full package. You could get away spending less on a simpler package.

I went with a pixi 20p...perfect incase I go up and get a zoom in a month or so.
