Mini Dragonfly help.......
 

I recently purchased a Mini Dragonfly (GWS). This is my 2nd Heli (Had a Kyosho Nexus .30 but did not get to fly it). Anyway...When I increase the throttle, the heli wants to go backwards and left. I have tried to balance it and moved the battery as far forward as possible, but the same thing happens.

My questions are:
1. How can I balance this heli?
2. What would cause it to go rear/left when trying to hover?

It seems that most of the FP helis tend to move to the left on power up, so I would say that is normal. Just know that it will happen and compensate. Movement to the rear could be caused if your CG is off or if you heli isn't trimmed correctly. I have heard on this forum that some people have had to move some of the other components forward as well as the battery, in order to establish proper CG.

Also there is usually a piece on the battery holder(attached to the landing skids) that can be removed. This will allow the battery to be placed even further forward than the design intended. This method could fix your CG prob(if your prob is CG caused) with out having to move the reciever/mixer, etc forward. So try this method first, after rechecking your heli for proper trim.

this happen becuase when you accelerate, the counter force gets bigger and since it has a differente motor on the back it doesn't
accelerarate at the same time and can't pitch in and neutrulize the movement to the left
al you have to do it put a little trim to compensate the force

It would seem that the torque on the main rotor blades is spinning your heli around that could mean that either your tail motor isnt strong enough because its burning out or you are throttling up too fast or your mixer gains are not adjusted properly. It could also be a combo of a few of those. I dont have a violent surge to the left on throttle up but mine does want to spin a bit I just compensate with oposite rudder when I throttle up. My brother had a real bad case of the spins and it seems his issue is a combo if a burnt out tail motor and a bad ESC.

Have you tried adjusting the trim on the servos? I just bought a mini dragonfly and look forward to flying it this weekend.

MAin thing is follow the directions to the letter. These small electronic parts dont take well to heat. If you over heat them even a little bit they may still appear to work but may be thrown off in a way that will have you adjusting things forever. That can make for an aggrivating experience.
