brushless esc

The stock engine in my Shogun is not brushless, I eventually want to go brushless. Can I run the brushless ESC and upgrade the engine later?

thanks.

No.

RE: brushless esc

Just to clarify that.....No. :D

The brushless ESC's have three output wires that pulse the voltage in a sequence. The brushed ESC's have just + and - connectors to the motor and don't generate a sequenced output, just a single pulsed output. Brushless motors are basically high rpm stepper motors which require a special controller.

thanks for the detailed response. Is there a ESC that you would recommend? I'm thinking about getting the shogun 400 & stock motor for now. And i think the GWS 6 channel receiver is the best bang for the buck. Helihobby has the Rx for only $27. :D

The GWS ICS-300 does the job and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. If you want a fancy high res brushed ESC then look at Shulze or Castle Creations ESC's.

yeah, the ics300 is a pretty good deal. So i definitely need a minimum of 8amps? There's a ics100 that's only 4amps. I'm really new to electrics so i dont have a clue.

thanks for all your help
