Spy Hawk
Anyone heard of the Spy Hawk, if so, how does it compare to other low range helis. They all look pretty much the same to me, as far as I can tell its the same as the honeybee/twister!!

RE: Spy Hawk
Hello, I recently bought one. It came without the transmitter, and I have not found an alternative. The manufacturers say you need to use their transmitter, so they sent me one that would work for $20. I will have that today and be able to fly it so Ill let you know what I think later today.

RE: Spy Hawk
Well, mine should fly fine, but there are some things wrong. Mine keeps wanting to tip to the left no matter what I do. I have tried full right aileron, full right aileron subtrim, and full right aileron trim. Nothing works. I see no reason as to why the thing should want to tip to the left. Also, when I get it in the air it seems to not have much control. I cant get it to steady out. It drifts to easily. My radio battery died so I havent had any more time to tweak stuff. If anyone knows why it is drifting and tipping to the left some help would be appreciated. BTW, my transmitter from the company didnt come so I rigged up a way to use my JR radio.

RE: Spy Hawk
OK, I got the Spy Hawk trimmed out now and it flies great :D It is more durable then the Hummingbirds Ive flown too. It is pretty tricky to fly but fun. I have crashed it like 40 times in 2 houre (I know I suck at flying hehe) and all I have broke is 1 skid...which I fixed easily. All in all its a good helicopter so far.

RE: Spy Hawk
Cool Lando
Have you tried any of the sims available..... Ive been using RC Helicopter Sim 1.1 for Mac OSX, it has taught me alot, maybe something like that will help your crashing... Im sure there are other demos for PC if thats what your on. Until my Spy hawk arrives I am stuck in the virtual world....... |
RE: Spy Hawk
I have looked for a good sim, but I havent seen any that are good on windows. The ones I have seen are a few hundred dollars. I crashed most of the time because the helo was out of trim, now that I got it fixed up I should do a little better. Good luck with your Spy Hawk, it can be tricky to trim at times.

RE: Spy Hawk
I have an esky honeybee. I've had it for a while now, and still cant keep it in a hover for a full battery (stock NiMH). Its not how i fly either. Its because the tail motor wont last for 4 minutes of hovering! *Bada bing!* (true story, because im using DC-166 from allelectronics.com)
