I just got my NEW 6ch ccpm dargonfly 22a
It is a good heli which similar to the previous 4ch 22d by the same manufacturer.
It comes with the telebee dual rate 400 mini gyro which many ppl talking these days.
and a 11.1v Li-polymer battery is included.
it's a hornet 2 style which most parts are the same.
it has hollow carbon fibre main blades as the hornet.
but don't think it's a hornet 2, as we'll use a programmable transmitter with the hornet 2 which should fly very good.
this one is cheap enough to give a ccpm control which is the same as the esky honeybee 2 cp by an ordinary transmitter.
so just think is as another ccpm cp helicopter for a NEW 3d heli player.
the first image it give me is that it's even better that the honeybee cp because it has two more button on the transmitter.
one seems for the pitch sentivity and one can change the pitch as futaba t6xh
but because of two more settings with it, we may more to fine tuning it in order to suit our flying practice.
but it's quite chellenging for me. [>:]
if you like 22d, you should like these one too.
a final thing I would like to remind to all who got this heli
DO ensure the button at the upper right corner of the transmitter is set to the "N" position before connecting battery to the transmitter.
As another "I" means idle mode for 3d which the main rotor will rotate at full throttle.
I am lucky that didn't hurt but afraid not every one same as me. ;)

I almost purchased the 22A off Ebay. Ended up ordering an Esky HB2 CCPM instead.

I like the 22A for the pitch controls on the TX, the shaft/gear driven tail rotor, and the 2 inch larger rotor span.

I was concerned about the availability of spare parts for the 22A, or lack thereof. I heard: "use tail parts from the 22D", "use main rotor parts from the hornet". And the company advertizing on Ebay said to see xxx website, where very few 22A specific parts were to be found. The Esky parts are everywhere. Hopefully the same will be true of the 22A soon.

Also, the 22A has a 370 motor spinning both the main and tail rotors, while the Esky has a 370 turning the main rotor and a 180 turning the tail. Seems the Esky has more available power.

In addition, for $80 less, I got spare blades and two batteries.

I'm not knocking the 22A, just relating the logic behind my decision to go with the Esky.

Keep us informed on how the 22A performs, and of its durability. It will be interesting to see if I screwed up with the Esky.

Please tell us more about the D22a (show us more close up pictures, too). Had I knew the D22a came out this quick, I would have waited a bit long to get that instead.

Friend of mine is trying to relocate the electronics on his Honeybee 2 to the D22. He just order a barebone D22 from overseas for $45 (plus shipping $20). He likes the electronic stability of the Honeybee 2 with the Hornet look externally. The main reason for the conversion is that he'd has gone through 5 cn12rxc motors.

The seller said they will have parts very soon just like 22d.
at this moment, I can email and ask to buy the parts I needed.
I found only they have all parts avaliable for 22d and so I trust them.
I like this seller and this heli.

the main motor speed is really powerful.
I'm still tuning and testing this new toy.

I've seen mention in the forums that you can use Hornet parts for the dragonfly 22a ccpm...Is this true???..I've been holding off on getting one for the simple fact that I cannot find a site that sales anything more than replacement blades. Im new to helis so I predict a crash or 50 in my future and need a reliable source for parts.

I got mine's from rc-expert.com
after fine tuning, it's hovering very good.
and most parts are the same as hornet 2. only the servo mounts are different.

What kind of things did you have to do?
Did it fly good out of the box?
What other stock parts cant be replaced by aluminum or carbon fiber?

Well, I can suggest one thing to do when you first wish to power up your heli, be sure the trims are all set to 0. My first flight I didn't know what a 'trim' on the transmitter was and one of them was advanced over half way out of the box with my Aero Hawk. Though I turned on the transmitter before plugging in the heli battery as was suggested to me, my Aero Hawk tail rotor promptly began spinning at a high rate of speed and spun the Aero Hawk into a nearby obstruction, breaking the tail rotor blade and causing the motor to seize. I now have to order replacement parts for the tail rotor motor and tail rotor blade.[&o]

Just a question... My cousin just bought me the stock Dragonfly and I am currently still elaring with it.

But it seems to so much fun and I hope I get better at it.

Regarding the Dragonfly 22A CP.. I know the radio is crappy... I have a Futaba 6AX... Can I use it with that? which Crystal should I use. I noticed my dragonfly's throttle is located on the right stick when I am used to flying planes on my left stick? Any suggestions and reviews on how this 22A would be really great! for all it's worth... I'm also hoping it's way cheaper in HK

I was thinking about ordering a HoneyBee 2 CP or a Dragonfly 22A CP. I decieded to order the Dragonfly 22A CP becsause of the non-tail. I have a JABO II and I have burned up about 5 tail motors in the last 2 months[&o]. Even at 0.99 each, its still a pain in the A55 to replace the motor everytime. Ill post some pictures and let you know how it handles.

I'm just a newbie to Helis. I really would appreciate your feedback on this product. The locals in our area suggests that I get a Shogun 400 or a T-rex. Do you guys think is is better to get that than the 22A?

Hello,

If you have your own radio equipment, I would suggest buying the Trex. If you are just wanting to try out the heli for the first time, I would suggest buying the 22a. The 22a is a knock off of the proven success of the Hornet 2. Upgrade parts are readily available, albeit, expensive. Maybe you should just purchase the 'Heli Only' version and add your own equipment. A couple posts ahead of you have discussed the possibilities of buying the heli only for the 22a.

I second that, I'm a big fan of the 22A, but if you have resources aka. "funding", I would procede directaly to the tre-x. Seems more robust and flight worthy for a beginner. Just ALOT more expensive[:-]. But in this you would get what you pay for. My 2 cents.:eek:

Thanks for your input.. Much appreciated.. I currently own a mini dragonfly and I had crashed it several times but getting good at getting it off the ground. I will be getting a new tail motor later as I had wrecked it a second time.

I do have a Futaba 6XAS airplane radio with heli programming. Do you think this will work fine with the Trex/Shogun/Dragonfly 22A or do i still need to get a Heli radio? I want to go through electric heli with some peace of mind and practicality.. I'm leaning towards the TREX though as it looks durable.. But really still undecided..

Any suggestions?

but I found it only comes with the china made gyro.
what I got with mine's is the telebee dual rate gyro which I think it's much more better. :D

I think the futaba 6XAs works great with 22a. because I know 6XAs works great with hornet 2. :D

$59 is for 22d or 22a barebone? I see 22a barebone is now only $65...
