t-rex

hey guys,
Who here has a t-rex as their first helicopter? im worried that if I buy this I will crash it becauss it is very sensitive. Is this a big problem for noobs? I fly on g3 about 2 hours a week at work and have gotten quite good. Whats your take on this guys?

RE: t-rex

The T-rex is a perfect first heli. all you have to do to slow down the cyclic responce is to add wheel collars to the fly bar out by the paddles to add some weight and you ahould have no problems flying this bird. I just got one of the new T-rex XL's and believe them to be much more stable than the original T-rex. Mark

3 months on G3 then a TRex and I was nose in hovering the first pack. You'll need to very diligent and precise in the building and setup but it’s possible. If I can do it it really can’t be that hard :)

RE: t-rex

great. Thats what I was hoping. I will pick up some of those 3/32(or whatever) weights for the flybar. Hopefully, I will be picking it up at work along with my motor and servos.
Question- I have a futaba 7channel radio and reciever, can I use the 7 channel reciever the radio came with or is it too heavy?
Thanks for you help

Two batteries and I can hover mine. I crashed it the first time trying to trim it out broke some rotor head parts and boom but $14 and 20 min. and I was flying again, real easy to repair and tough.

Hi guys..

I did wonder about buying a TREX (like this: http://www.helihobby.com/html/trex_helicopter.html )

But i did read somewhere that the BELT driven tail rotor did "explode" ??
That is the ONLY reason why i consider not buying that heli, and maybe get another model..

Can anybody tell me that i can for sure buy this without having problem with the belt?
Ore confirm that the belt really is a problem ?

:)

I've seen 1 or 2, considering the number of Rexes out I wouldn't worry, loooot's of guys with more than 2 thumbs out there, there will be bad reports about any machine or part.
Har flydd min en god del timer, ingen problemer som ikke relaterer seg til manglende kunnskaper så langt :) Fantastisk morsom maskin.

Weight is not a problem, Thats enough channels but it has to have a heli mode to fly cppm.

I did get it trimmed out and just flew it in the shop, the belt is great, I havent had a problem with it, it makes for easy repairs. I had a shaft driven one and when you tweek a boom well you get to fix the shaft as well. I love mine, it is as good as they come.

T-rex is very sensitive. However, if using the exponential mode, and T-rex will be a perfect electric helicopter for a beginner with all stock parts. I have mine setup with most of my existing electronic stuffs. Here is my setup:

- T-rex 450X (all stock)
- Align 400L
- Phoenix-25 ESC with high governor mode
- Futaba F-155 Mechanical gyro
- 3 Nano GWS servos, 1 pico GWS BB servo
- Lipo 12.6V @ 2200mA.
- 4-CH GWS RX with 1-CH expanding
- JR-347 TX

Flying time 2x7 mins hover. Fast circle flying 2x8 mins. Invert: not yet simulation only.

It is great to fly with T-rex 450X.

nitroracer20,

It doesn't really matter which heil your get as fars as crashing it, you are going to crash it no if and or buts about.
Along with expo try takeing your D/R down to about 60%.
TRex is a great bird.

That was my brother Mike (mikesmachines here) flying. Dad says that the extended windsock indicates 15+ knots. It was a handful. I had the easy job. Zoom in and click a lot. Lighting was bad. Dusk, overcast skies, and too far to use the flash.
