RE: need help geting started
Personally, I would not recommend a fixed pitch micro electric to a newb to learn on... you're better off getting a simulator for that kind of money.
The .30 to .50 sized collective pitch nitro helis would be the easiest to learn on. Right now the cheapest RTF micro electric heli I've seen that a newb would have half a chance at learning on is the Eflite Blade CP... and that is still quite a handful! The Shogun 400 and T-REX would be even better, but will cost you much more to get flying, and they aren't RTF... |
RE: need help geting started
Just my take on the question.
first it is a very very good idea to use a computer simulator to help you learn to fly your helicopter. Many of us on the forum have purchased the walkera #4 and have found it to be a very fun first helicopter. It is fixed pitch and it can take a lot of abuse before you spend much money on repairs. the nitro 30 and 50 helicopters are easier to fly but the risk is much higher. A lot more money spent if you make a mistake. Also a lot more money involved in getting into and maintaining the nitro heli's. plus there is much more support equipment and work involved for just a simple flight. with the electric heli you charge the batteries and plug them in. when your done, if all went well, you just unplug and recharge. not much in the way of cleaning etc. the walkera #4 usually comes with a free simulator that will help you learn to fly. there are much better ones on the market that will be more realistic when you are using them. but as usual they cost from $80 up to $200. One of the things you need to know if your going to purchase the walkera #4 is that you should replace the servos before you attempt to fly it. the Hitec HS55's are a good choice for a direct replacement. I use the GWS naro servos and have had good luck with them also. the GWS servos require a little bit of trimming to get them to fit right. if you have the time you should try a search for the walkera #4 on this forum to see what others have been doing with them. good luck. :) |
RE: need help geting started
I learned on a nitro heli, and used RealFlight G2. After 180 flights or so, I've only spent $120 for one bad crash repair. I've since tried a Kyosho M24 FP heli and an Eflite Blade CP heli... based on those experiences, I wouldn't waste my money on a micro electric FP heli, they just don't fly well at all, IMO. The Blade CP is a handful and would be very tough for a beginner to start with, but definitely much more predictable and fun to fly than the FP M24 was.

RE: need help geting started
This is the least expensive seller I have seen thus far. the sim CD and cable along with a crash kit and training gear are included.
[link=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2563&item=59857027 68]4CH Dragonfly RTF Helicopter-Ver 4 ship from US, Free Main/tail blade & Simulator CD/cable/Training Kit[/link] If you get into flying these little buggers you gotta watch out, they are addicting! :D |

RE: need help geting started
guys can u use difrint blades for that helli
|
RE: need help geting started
Most fixed pitch birds use very very similar blades, and so most are intercompatible (GWS, century, Ikarus, Walkera, etc.)
Some of them are identical in shape and angle and look like they're made from the same moulds. |
RE: need help geting started
