Will this battery do for my setup

I have the zoom/shogun v1. I have just upgraded to brushless setup

using 10 Tooth pinion and standard foam blades

My standard 1800mah 4-6C battery dies after about 10 seconds of hovering... So I was wondering if this is good enough or is it just a waste of money ?

That pack would work, but your motor is rated for 10-18 amps and 22 amps peak, and that pack is rated for only 15 amps continuous discharge so really you'd want to go with something different as you risk frying the battery if you got a spike.

Honestly I doubt it's any better than what you've got. Those cheap Li-Po's assembled in China suck, your best bet would be to get one of the 2000mah 3s Thunder power Li-Po's or one of the Kokam 2000mah 3s Li-Po's.

4-6C ? are you sure?

That's only good for 7.2A continuous and 10.4A peak. (30 seconds MAX).

You will want around 10 to 12A continuous to hover a Zoom/Shogun and more to fly.

Your battery is WAY underpowered.

Even cheap chinese batteries are usually 8 - 10C - And would still be marginal for your application. And still insufficient for 3D or fast climbs etc.

If your battery really is 1800mA 4-6C, you have a serious issue. Don't fly with it.

David.

Sounds like I would be wasting my money then ???. Unfortunately the thunderpower you recommended wont fit and is expensive. The zoom can fit 31mm x 36mm x 90mm. I have heard kokams drop power off fairly rapidly so they are not recommended ?

It may be worth noting that just about all LIPO cells come from china, it's only the branding that changes, and the quality control of the manufacturer. If you go with better brands, you usually get properly matched cells that really are the MAH they're stated to be instead of mismatched cells that may or may not be the stated amperage (as testing LIPO's costs money, and many factories don't bother). You can find high discharge batteries among most all of the major chinese manufacturers of the cells themselves.
