lipoly's
What mah lipoly's does everyone use in their heli's and what kind of flying time do you get from them?
|
RE: lipoly's
the size of the battery depends on the size of the heli. 300 size electrics typcically use between 1000 to 1350mah, 450 use 1500 to 2500mah. both 300 and 450 use 3S1P 11.1v batteries.
when you move to larger electrics like the 500 to 600 class the size of the battery depends on the size of the motor, some use 4S, 5S or 6S batteries. some can use two 3S in series to get 6S. The 6S batteries can be up to 6000mah and cost $300. so, what size heli are you talking about? |
RE: lipoly's
Well everybody seems to recommend Thunder Power; but I'm the kind of guy that likes to swim against the tide (I didn't buy a Futaba gy401 either) so I just ordered a couple 3200mAh cellpro from FMA direct for a hurricane 550 and some 2200mAh hextronics from Hobby City for a mini titan. The hextronics were a gamble but for $30.00 apiece I figure if only half of them are any good it's a wash.

RE: lipoly's
I am getting a mx 400 so I am guessing it is considered a 400 size right,I am getting a 2100 lipoly with it is why I was asking about flying time also.My charger is a Triton from Great Planes I have used for several years but never have use it for lipoys so I guess it will be fine?

RE: lipoly's
I am getting about 9 minutes of fly time on my 2200, 25C LiPo's (Thunder Power, 3S) on my T-Rex 450SA. I fly until my voltage drops below 10.2v or so (I have a low voltage alarm on board). I have a couple of TP 15C 2100's that work OK, but run a bit warm in the summer.

RE: lipoly's
I figured that so it will be smart to have at least 3 batteries for a heli of this size, boy I wish they would come down more in price seems like you can have as much in lipoly batteries as you do your heli or more

RE: lipoly's
The 2100 is fine for the mx400, you should get around 10 to 12 min flights. the triton is a good charger, just get a separate balancer like the blinky.

RE: lipoly's
I run hextronic 2200 s in my Black Hawk Ive used them all summer and fall and they worked great. at $35 a shot your cant beat the price. I can charge 4 at a shot on my poly 4 charger I just use 4 hextronic balancers i bought when I got the batts.

RE: lipoly's
Air thunder and Kong pack are almost like iddite proof ... can draw them low and if you care for them last a very long time ,,, on the other hand some Hong Kong packs on E-Bay if not pushed like every one 1st starting hover so on may work just fine too ,, for $20-30 a pack its a start if cutting corners better to cheap on the consumibles like batterys then your radio gear you live with a long time
