RE: Help Please!

i wouldnt get them. the design is old and outdated. by the looks of the motor its a brushed can and the batteries are ni-cad. ancient stuff man. forget about parts support as probably nobody has them.

RE: Help Please!

well yu have to start somewhere :)if he has heeps of spares you should be ok lurning on them. just one other issue is the tail motors on those helies have a realy bad habet of dying and it can be hard to find spares.
good luck mate

These are fixed pitch, so no 3D with them. Free is good to a point until you need to find parts for them...and you will need parts pretty quickly (even with the parts to build 3 more) learning to fly is lots of fun but costs in parts. You should look into getting a good sim and use it to learn the basics while learning to fly the real things.
I can tell you from my experience with the Axe CP that tail motors are a hassle to have to deal with....you can learn to fly with them but they can cause more issues than there worth at times.
Just my .02 cents

RE: Help Please!

I agree with Ybenjulkay2x. Even though they are free, with this type of helicopter you will learn some really bad habits as they will not fly like a higher end heli. I found this out the hard way. These small fixed pitch helicopters are very hard to learn on. They are unstable, almost impossible to trim and forget it on a windy day. I finally broke down and got a 600 size electric and after I finally got the nerve to put it into forward flight I was amazed how stable and easy to fly it was. My experience with the larger heli is nothing short of wonderful. So take it from a beginner helicopter pilot, If you want to actually learn to fly helis, don't waste your time with toys.

RE: Help Please!

what we are trying to say is that even though you got them for free on a trade those birds are not worthy to be learning to fly on. you will need at least a 6 channel radio that does helicopters. get that first then go for a kit. helifreak.com has all the info you need to set up a helicopter or ask a local flyer to help.

good luck and welcome to the club. warning this hobby is very addictive and costs alot of money.:D be prepared for alot of ohhh's ahhhh's. very exciting stuff.

you're not going to get a cheap cp heli that can do 3d. cheap and 3d doesnt go together. the belt cp is not a bad choice but at 155 RTF you're not going to get much. plastic head and tail, crappy transmitter that glitches, cheap servos. that's not to say that it cant be upgraded to better everything but if you do upgrade its going to cost as much as a quality heli. so why?

my suggestion:

get the dx6i if on budget....get the better dx7 if you got the cash as this transmitter has alot of features that you can use later on.
get the trex450sa if on budget ($199) or the trex450se for added bling or trex450sev2 for all out performance heli that can do 3d with ease. or the beam e4 for the ultimate 450.

if you run into difficulty with setting up these birds up just post your questions here and we can defintely get you though this.... you'll be glad you did ....;)

RE: Help Please!

I think its a little late for me to get counseling at this point. before i sleep i sit and stare at my helis and have a little talk with them. you should see my heli room. parts are everywhere. [&:] i have screws and bolts in every size imaginable.
