$300, no Radio
 

I want an electric heli for flying outdoors. I really want something ready to go minus radio and receiver. I have a 2.4ghz 7C id like to use. If I have to buy other parts separate, thats fine, but Id like it almost ready to fly right out of the box. Nothing where I must assemble the whole thing. I also want something relatively stable. I fly planes and I had a HoneyBee CP2, that I crashed to much before I learned to fly it barely at all. I, however, have been practicing on my Phoenix-rc simulator and Ive gotten alot better. As I said in the title, I do have a $300 limit. Possible $350. I have a kinda small backyard, so I want something pretty small.

well you HBFP is the best to start with. i'm flying a Belt CPv1 a belt CPv2 is not a bad heli. any thing is the 450-500 range is going to be good to start with. just remember its not easy. it like taming a drunk squeal. we are all hear to help you learn just remember its not a fixed wing

As for wanting a heli for under 300 with no radio,
Why not go with a Belt CP v2 RTFor a Honey Bee King 3 RTF, and sell the radio on EBay?

I will check out the RTF's. My radio is plane. I really didnt think of that. I think the only difference is the throttle stick clicks. I know my HBCP2 came with the radio that way, and I fly on my simulator that way. Other than that, my radio has all the functioning I would need for helis.

<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="font-size: 9pt">There are more than the throttle differences; the TX/RX has to be able to support CCPM swash plate movement, which combines the elevator and aileronand pitch servos into one movement which is also linked to the throttle.
So if your radio will not support heli mode I would go with a Belt CP RTF and move up to a Spektrum DX7i or DX7i at a later date.
However you can get the Belt CP v2 RTF that I linked above and a Spektrum DX6i and be good to go and still be very close to the $300 figure and after selling the RTF TX/RX you should be back to about $300, and have a radio that will do helis and planes both on the same TX, only have to add RX's to support more aircraft.The DX6i will do 10 aircraft and the DX7i will do 20 aircraft.

since you already have a decent transmitter skip the cheap Esky crap and go for a trex 450 sport super combo.  they can be had for under $400.   Comes with everything you need but a transmitter, receiver, and battery, charger.

Dont waste your money on the RTF's.  They are junk.

you can check also the clone trex 450, it's much more cheaper, check hobby city, the clone 450 is less than $60, or you can do 500.

keep your 7C and just take the spring out, it's a small bit of metal with a crease which with a few small taps with an hammer will flatten out then put it back in, I did one and it's smoother than my heli TX one is,
you can beat a good TX with a RTF one it's like selling your ferrari and buy a mini,
plus you get to buy a heli with servo's that last, well worth a bit more work, a heli is only as good as it's parts, and a 450 gives you most choice, something like this is ARF all you need is a battery and a RX,

or like this if you want to go down the cheaper clone road but you need to buy more parts, giro servo's etc. but you can fit some hitec 65MGs, I wouldn't fit any thing less, well worth a few $ more, and well save you loads in the long run, buy two ME450AE's and use one for spares, it's what I recommend.

If you have to go down the RTF road at lest buy something like this, it's a brilliant heli, I have one, this one comes with crap servos like all the RTF heli's but there easy to change on this one,

one bit of advice is you have to stop thinking working on a heli as hard or slow work and take it as a big part of the hobby like it is, my first and many more peoples first experience of heli's lasts seconds and ends in a rebuild, time after time, fixing your heli after is part of it and knowing your heli in side out before you bend it helps you to fix it and the more times you do it the quicker you get at it, it takes me about three hours to strip and straiten and rebuild and set up my heli's after a crash,
once you under stand that you never look at RTF stuff again, A heli is onley as good as it's parts and you can buy so much better than whats fitted to RTF stuff, it's not just how it flys but how long it lasts,
As a newbe you want the easiest heli to fly and a good quality heli with quality parts is easier to fly,
The best giro's hold the tail so well the tail is hands free almost, once a minute is about it in a hover, and that makes flying easier,

The only reason I want a pre-built is I only have a few weeks after Christmas to fly before going back to college. I want to actually get some flying in. A few days to build is a large percent of my time gone.

Shipping is only a long term affair when you use a China based supplier, I use US Hobby Supply, and they ship next day Priority Mail my orders are in my hands 3 days later.
Just bought a new King-3 from them, got it in 3 days. great service and great shipping.

IMHO I do not feel Esky is a bad product.
Esky and Alignboth crash and a pile of broken parts is a pile of broken parts.
At leas the King 3 is affordable to repair.
