Default Bananahobby F-5e 70mm Tiger Scheme

Does anybody have recent experience with the Bananahobby F-5e 70mm EDF? How does it fly on stock electronics? Anybody handlaunching this plane and if so, did you have any CG problems with the gear removed?

Any reviews, hints, advice on this plane appreciated. Thinking of purchasing it but it would be my first venture in the 70mm class.

thanks.

Dear F-5E fan, I have been flying this plane for the lastyear and a half and it isone of all time favorite jets.( of my 13)It won't set any speed records, but it flys smoothly and groves like its on rails.Tthe rolls are truely awesome. I fly mine on a 4 cell 2650 40c pack. It takes off easily on grass. It lands very slowly on the mains with the nose held high. The model had 2 versions, V1 and V2. The V1 had a week plastic nose gear, The V2 version added a metal ring around the base of the retract unit. The nose gear retracts forward- thats good. Add a stop block piece of balsa/ plywood behind the nose gear strut and you'll never break the nose gear .2 nd issue , the fan will draw about 41 amps. The esc specs say 45 amps. It is 45 amp BURST-40 amps continuous. Change the esc to 60 amps and it will stay cool. Don't forget to splice in the ubec.Last, but not least, use a programmable radio so you can adjust the retract servo throws so they won't buzz. Yes- it hand launched easily and handles the wind well. Hope this helps. Mine balanced right out of the box, I haven't added an ounce. Balance yours with the gear down.

Great flying jet. Here is a pic of my F-5 and some video's but my set up is not stock. Had it clocked at 101 mph.

Keep em flying
