Default 64mm motors for 4s

Hi,
I am looking for a motor that is for 64mm edf units and can run on a 4s battery. I put a 60 amp esc in it with a 4s 2200 mah 20c battery and a 5000kv motor and fried the motor within 30 seconds. I want to put a exceed rc 4800kv motor in it. I have seen this setup used before so I was thinking it might work. But another thing, do I really need to get that motor? I have a old FMS motor that is 4100kv and I run it on a 3s 2200 25c. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Kv is way too high for 4 cells in a chinese style 64mm fan, you are better off with 3500-3800Kv and it needs to be a solid motor. Our 2445 series inrunner motor runs in the GWS 64mm fan on 4 cells and puts out 1100g thrust at around 38 amps with 2200mah packs, very efficient, less amp draw than euqivalent outrunners. If you want something with more grunt we produce a custom 64mm fan with GRP or CNCalloy housing and machined Wemotec rotor, 1.4kg thrust on 4s at 62A and almost 2kg thrust on 6s at67A!

This Freewing motor is the highest KV motor I would suggest for 4S. Freewing has started using this in their updated version SU-34 twin 64mm plane (used to be 3500kv now 3800kv).

Just make sure you locktite the set screws located in the shaped motor end.

The freewing are good motors, just pull more amps to do the same rpm as good inrunners.

I personally would check with Don http://donsrc.com/cart/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=3
He's great to deal with and if you e-mail him he actually gets back with you within a day.
