Hey guys, could one of you spare the white "32" on the decal sheet? I'm working on custom graphics for my Habu and the decal sheet has only one of . Of course only if you don't use it yourself, just a small cut out . Would pay postage. Thanks in advance,V.

Finally got some spare time this afternoon & evening to do some more Habu !

Nosewheel steering linkage installed and centred. I may nowuse a JR 1221 Rx, and run a separate channel for nosewheel steering,so I can inhibit the steering when the gear is retracted - it just saves so much "faffing" setting it up in sync with the rudder (if you decide to use a Y-Lead....i'm not keen)
I still haveto trim the nose retract wheel bay cover, it just needs minor trimming.

Rudder servowas next - I usedaGraupner 361(JR 362 equivilant....butmuch cheaper), also fitted a JR Superservo arm and 650mm extension lead. Therudder horn alignment issue has been mentioned on other threads, mine was "ok", but not perfect (see pics). I fitted theclevis' anyway, but may change it to a ball link.

Next up were the elevator servos - JR331's were used here, with a horn similar to the one used in the manual. This all went together perfectly, with both pushrods coming down the guides straight onto the servo arms. I loved the supports for the pushrod guides, they really work and stiffen upthe assembly ! All of the hardware included in the kit was used here, I am impressed with the hardware....ALLof it can be used which is brilliant.

Fan installed, this was easy as I had trial fitted it at the beginning of the build. Although I did have to remove the LH Elev pushrod support to get the fan installed.
The thrust tube was trimmed earlier in the build, so simply slide it down the tail, and tape in position :-)

Now just waiting on remaining parts to finish, Royal Mail have some work to do !

Stuart

P.S pics will not upload , try in the morning !

Stu, nice work. Good info on the Graupner 361, I'll get one instead the hitec I have bc don't feel like fiddling with the servo fin mount Thanks on that!

Oh yes it's definately better than Hitec !...........although that's not difficult

I think some guys in the UK are also using Savox, I had the choice, but prefer JR

tam struts are a nice add on. no more bounce. they handle the 8s packs in my 32

also a nose gear door will clean up a lot of drag and smooth her out. increase 5-8 mph.

that stock setup you have will come alive with 7s instead of 6s. it'll handle it all day.

Well finally got therest of the parts needed to complete the model, and found some time to actually do it !

I chose the E-flite 80A ESC, but did not use the BEC because there are rumours thatit cannot handle 7-8 servos, plus the fan at full chat.
I removed the EC5 connector on the controller and (with help from a friend..thanks Jim) soldered a Deans connector. I also removed the REDwire from the BEC/Thro lead that goes into the Rx, this prevents the ESC powering the Rx.

I installed the ESC slightly forward of the manual position, it was neater and left me room to put a remote Rx aerial in the "V" of the intake ducts.

Powerbox Digiswitch was then installed, with 1000mAh 2S lipo. I used velcro to hold the lipo onto the fuselage side.

Last of all the JR1221 2.4 Rx was installed, with 2 remote Rx's (a mininum according to JR). I put spiral wrap on the wiring I could get access to. By using the 12ch Rx, I could put the nosewheel steering servo on a separate channel, and then disable the steering when the gear is retracted...........JR DSX12

I setup my control movements as per Motors & Rotors recommendation, apart from slightly less travel on full flaps.

I also set the ESC cell count to 6S, all the other settings on the ESC were left as standard.

The model balanced slightly nose down at 110mm, this is roughlymiddle of the range, so will see how it flies

Stoneenforcer, yes the tam struts are nice, but I didn't want to add more weight. Will fly on 6S first, its supposed to be as quick as the P20SE version

Weather here in Scotland is terrible, 5 degrees, rain and very windy, so will be a while before I fly my Habu. Enjoyed the build though

John,

As long as my "starter motor" lasts longer than the engine in your Magnum........especially after a few of my customary "flat oot" flights...

Oh and some of Stuart's special "low" passes

You mentioned the Eflite 80 ESC's BEC not being up to the task. There was a product bulletin on the ESC a little while ago that basically said the BEC was no good in "high stress" applications. Mine would have crashed my HABU on the first flight. Every 2-3 minutes the BEC voltage would drop to nothing and reset the receiver driving everything hard over. There has since been a V2 put out to address the issue that most likely will work. I just used a Castle Creation BEC.

Hello

First excuse my English because I am French.
While practicing the model aircraft for many years, I am a novice for EDF.
I have mounted the Habu 32 E-Flite fiber version, with the recommended equipment except the controller who is a J. Perkins model "En-ErG Pro B-115 Opto" 115 A continuous.

Problem: I put the engine full throttle, the aircraft on ground in static mode, and after a 1,5 minutes, the motor blocked and controller calcined.

The engine teardown, overheating is clearly visible and the coil at the black wire is fused, after the welding.

Thank you in advance for your help, I like to know the
real cause of the problem before ordering a new motor and controller.

Regards

Zak
