Hello!
So I'm thinking about taking the plunge for my first BVM Jet. Specifically the Electra. I notice allot of people are running Tamjet power plants instead of the BVM stuff. What I was wondering is what people think about the two. Is it that Tam jet is priced better? Which is the better performer? Being that I'm taking that step into a serious airframe, I'm more concerned with performance then price. To me it looks like the BVM stuff looks really good. No offense Tam, I think you make a great product aswell.
But could use a little experienced wisdom on the subject.
Thanks!

My Feedback: (4)

Hi,
Can't say anything about Tam's stuff as I haven't used any of it. I have an EVF 5212 in my Electra and it is great. 65 flights with no issues or problems at all. Just bought an EVF 2 12S for a little more speed. I built mine from the kit and never considered any other EDF for power as I felt BVM had a good unit. I have not been disappointed. I also like the sound it makes. I will stick with the EVF. I have flown with several guys that have the EVF and they have not had any issues with theirs either. Hope this helps.

I Started back in the hobby in January after being gone for 7 years. The obvious choice for me was BVM.
Since then I have over 250 flights on my E Bandit with a EVF 2, over 150 flights on my Mig 15 with an EVF 3, about 30 flights on my Sabre with an EVF 2. I have had zero problems with either the airframes or powerplants.
I am now building an Electra for my son and an F4 for Top Gun 2012. All powered with EVF.
I have not used any of Tam's stuff so I cannot judge it. I have known Tam since back in my Turbine days with RAM. He is a great guy and I am sure his stuff is good.
I do believe if you want to have no problems you should stick with an all BVM setup since you have already chosen to build an Electra. Do not mess with what is proven!!!!

Thanks Reinol, and rvnrcer, your feedback is very insightful! Being that this is my first BVM plane I'm going to take your advice and go with the EVF. Maybe down the road I'll play around with Tam's stuff. But I can't justify it now knowing so many people have had perfect performance out of the BVM EVF combo. I do agree Tam is a great guy! I have delt with him with a few other products for my Habu 32. He's very nice, and great service!
I've been dreaming about having a BVM since the 90's and to finally pull the trigger on it is extremely exciting. Thanks again guys for the feedback!
