I'm new to EDF (not RC ) and started flying PZ HABUs this year, right now I amusing 4 and 5 cell configruations with a Castle 100a lite ESC and retracts. I am having no problems other than the desire to run 6 cell power for more speed. I know the ESC will handel rhe additional power but have concerns about the Delta V fan andthe stock motor failing. Because of the possibility of the motor shorting out and wrecking the ESCI have added CC BEC just in case.
Rightnow at50K RPM the fan is holding it's own. But if push it to 60K RPMI'm not sure the Delta V will last...
Has anybody out there tried to push the PZ Habu that hard? Any suggestions on a better fan and motor to fit the PK Habu?
Before I move to a faster EDF jetI want to learn all I can from the HABU.
any thoughts ?

I'm curious to know. It is a six blade fan, is it not? What KV is the motor, and is it inrunner? 6 cell and 2500kv works on my WM400 3 blade high speed fan. 6 cell and HET 6904 4 blade fan works on 3300Kv cyclone outrunner, but nearly pushing it, haven't fully tested it yet. Please cross-reference my findings with EXTREME RC AU and with others here. My specs are good, but Not etched in stone...just hoping this helps.

damage to the fan rotor will limit it's maximum, and dirt into the inlet will pit the blades unbalancing the unit, be carefull if you test.

- [*]The PZ Habu stock fan is a Delta V, the specifications below:[*][*]Factory-balanced 69mm 5-blade rotor design and aluminum spinner[*]Includes center body fairing to reduce drag[*]Designed for 3S-4S Li-Po batteries[*]6 pole, inrunner motor, around 800 watts max...[*]Can accept motors with 28mm diameter[*]Purpose-built for recommended E-flite BL15 Ducted Fan Brushless Motor, 3600Kv (EFLM3015DF)[*]I fly off avery nicegrass field but surely I amgetting grass in the fan on takeoff. NOTGOOD![*][*]My Castle 100A ESC at 100% power reports 50K RPM, using 5s at 1400 watts. Lots of power to get off wet grass (10 seconds or so burst). However I keep the crusie power cut back to 60% or 40K RMP. When showing off I'll nail it for a fast low pass or really big loops.[*]Right now I thnk if I try 6s I'll throw the mangets and maybe short out the motor. Looking for a stronger motor fan setup.[*]Some of my friends think I should get a better jet, maybe a viper and start over. Butthese jets need paved runways...[/list]
