After all these years flying the little "Vixy" off the beach sand one of my main gear started to play up. After pulling it apart I found some rust on the motor so replacements were ordered, after some miss understanding it took 3 orders to get the right one but still with the plastic trunion so the original was used as replacement, all good, ready for more salty action.

One of the retract motor in pretty bad state, still working but intermittently.

Regular retract service is a must when flying off the beach sand.

Trunion replacement for the metal one.

Bit of livery after all these years, starting with primers.
Time for a major service and change of the color scheme.

I let my imagination go wild, still nowhere near the finish, but it looks so much better.
First touch of some colour to give it bit of life, while working on full service with electronics and the power unit.

Slightly brighter.
After full service, colour scheme and 2.4 Ghz. receiver for a change, ready for more beach action.

Back at my favored flying site with an old Sea Vixy, after all these years flying it it seem to lost bit of power. Today, very windy day I pulled it apart to give it bit of internal check up and service, also for the first time I have cut out all the armory under the wings to reduce the drag to see how it goes with out, as I have never flew it as such.

Sea Vixy on the horse back.

More streamlined after today service.

I never really liked the look of this model, especially that monotonous stock colour, only got it 8 years ago because it was such a cheap ARF kit from HK, (the good old days) and an old friend had one in our club but couldn't do much with it beside crashing, LOL.
Now fitted with modified 10 blade fan, hotter 5S power set up, and taking off all that drag under the wings makes it a different model. Sound sweet, runs lot sleeker even in the strong wind I was flying last night the X-mas Eve.

Windy Xmas Eve, note the towel wind sock!

No more drag under the wings.

On the final into the strong Southerly.

Now fitted with an additional cheater openings on the belly and the top of fuselage I have managed to improve the static thrust by additional 500 grams. Pretty good result after a minor mod. It's a different model to fly now, Love it.

Further inno to my Vixy. Extra top and belly cheaters.

A different model with the new modified power plant.
