To get away from the grey monotony touch of colour added.

After few fan test runs I'm not happy with the thrust by the stock 6S power unit so pulling it all out and upgrading to 8S by fitting new ESC and rotor to the existing fan.

After number of static thrust tests using the stock and upgraded 8S power set up I have decided to modify the air intakes, resulting in great improvement.

On the stock 6S I was getting only some 2.4kg thrust at very high current draw. I tested 5 different power units but finally decided on 8S Stumax 89-45/NEU1400kv. I'm getting close to 3.5kg thrust which will translate much better in flight after the air intake modification. Just assembled Elev. stabs with the rudder fin today and had to do some surgery foam removal inside the cockpit to accommodate larger capacity batteries. Won't be long now and she'll be in the air.

Unhappy

This model doesn't glide on finals when you run out of last bit of 'calories' in your lipos! Luckily only only minor landing gear damage.

Few flights kept me on the toes while landing.

Yakky landing in W/X-wind.
Forecast for a nice calm day turn out a crappy, yakky, cold and windy across the strip. Real battle to bring them down.

Stiffer and longer oleo spring fitted.

FOP from the nose gear removed, only creating drag while taking off the grass.
The stock oleo spring on the nose gear was totally useless, soft like a marsh mellow, I have replaced it for stiffer one when build this model but still finding it not stiff enough for the weight of this model so another longer, stiffer one was fitted to minimize the bouncing of my rugged grass strip.

Full flaps in dead calm landing.

Nose gear always suffers on grass.
Latest "Yak" action in dead calm, couldn't pic the nicer day.

Back under reconstruction.

Love the 5 min. epoxy.

Takes 50 hours to repair the mess created in the matter of few seconds! Just a part of the bobby.
My first nasty prang with the "Yak", after it hit the ground I thought it was total! Hundreds of fragments flew all over the place, total carelessness on my part taking off with low voltage controls battery.
With 20 operational function gadgets it doesn't take much to get drop in voltage!
After collection of all the bits and pieces I thought I might put it back together, it's well on the way. Bugger!

No sign of mishap.

Touch of new color scheme.

L/gear, gear doors/all lights now isolated from the RX battery.
After some TLC it is back in action with few improvements.

Someone's bigger appetite than could swallow ended up on my work bench, just love it, another perfect 'xmas presy' for peanuts. Major upgrade improvement modifications well under way.

Check out of the bits.

Out with the useless junk!

More important mods come first.

Such as a speedy upgrade.

Touch of colour for bit of contrast.

Copper headed canopy finish.

Air intake mods.

Back in the air after the maiden crash!

Maiden take off.

50 hours of TLC repair after split second screw up on final.

Easy fix.

Landing, after off the grass re-maiden.

Another day out with the Yak off the very wet strip, bit of a handle model, but a great challenge to bring it back in the same order as taking off. LOL.
