Default 10 S super sniper battery Question

Hello,

I am interested in doing a super fast edf, would be my third or fourth etc. My question is can I use two TP 2070's 5S up under the canopy or do I have to get three packs ie two 3S packs for each side near wing and a 4S pack for the front. I want to be fast and light. Also what flight time should I expect, I think with a sorta small capacity prob about 4-5 min. Would like to hear from someone who has decked one of these out. I heared the lehner 1530/19 on 10s with the het 609 fan is good from some one here. I just want to get the right packs. I use the PVC rail launcher with bungee and have had better success with that vs dolly. Hope to hear from someone.

Thanks,

Matt ( aka nightctman )

STONEENFORCER,

I FIRST USED A JEPE DOLLY AT OUR FIELD AND HAD A FEW LAUNCHES WITH IT, THE PROBLEM IS THE JET CAN COME OFF THE DOLLY TO SOON IF IT HITS A BUMP, OR A BAD RELEASE WITH THE DEATH ROLL TO THE GROUND. I USED IT ON A SU-27 PUSHER A FEW TIMES ALSO, BUT I WOULD NOT USE IT ON ANY THING BUILT UP. I MADE THE PVC RAIL WITH THE FOAM PIPE INSULATION AND USE THAT WITH MY BUNGEE AND PEDAL RELEASE. USED THAT SYSTEM TO LAUNCH F-20 AND PANTHER NO PROBLEM. THE PLANS ARE ON THE SITE HERE SOMEWHERE. I WOULD BUILD IT, THAT WOULD BE MY ADVICE. I AM HOPING TO DO A 150 MPH SUPER SNIPER SOON.

HOPE THIS HELPS,

MATT

you dont need or want 10s, you will actually be heavier than you would be with a potent 6s setup with less watts maybe even. If you have a given max rating a 70mm fan can hit and you cna reach that max with 6s then 10 might fly longer, but be a lot slower.

Hi Folks,
It's my sniper your asking about... I use 2 -1760 5s Tanic packs (little smaller than the TP's) or 2 - 2070 5s TP's
yes it weighs more, yes the batteries fit back inbetween the ducts under the canopy...yes the motors a 1530/19 Hiamp w/ CC HV45... it take some mods to fly with that much power but, it's the fastest sniper anywhere. 1200 watts 175mph. if you want to go less go less. If you want to do it right and saftly find my sniper v3 thread over in RCG and do the mods.

But you can do the same amps or more on 5 or 6s at 1/2 the weight and cost, this is my pyranha setup. 5s 60 amp loads, 6s high 49 amp loads and both at half the weight and cost. And for me at these speeds flight time is still too long. And if not the 10s pack split up get you 2 flights or can fly 2 different planes back to back.

The guy asked and I told him what I used.. mine weighed 3lbs.
Barry, I doubt 10 1760 batteries weigh more than 6 3200's. And as far as power and efficiency go's, more volts is better the more amps every time. Doing 6s is just easier for most people.

Barry - How do you get less amps on 6S than on 5S ? Running a smaller fan on the 6S set-up ?

not same motor on 5 and 6 i mean different 5 and 6 s setups, usually 33kv for 5s and 2800 for 6s. And yeah Joe if there 1700's yeah there gonna be lighter. I see where you were headed with it as far as higher volts lower amps, that is always more efficient. Another good compromise is some 2200's, few guys run that here in 7s, they run a bit less amps but there packs weigh half the weight of mine with about the same power, but there going about 25 mph faster! lol. And I dont tap out my packs so they seem to get about the same flight time as me.

I have a sniper that i have tried to get up to 200mph and just cant do it on a 68mm fan regaurdless of motor or cells. Have tried a NEU motor to a Lenhr 3-8 cells . The problem is thrust is just too low. Anyway i have resorted to ripping out the fan ducting etc and i am putting a LARGE 36 dia 1900 KV Scorpion outrunner in it as a pusher. The motor that is similar to the one the guy won the Greman Speed Cup with. Its a great motor never gets too hot no matter the amps and can take up to 200c. Im going to run a 7x10 on 6 cells. I have a pito tube out the front to measure air speed. I also have radar gun but this seems to work great and be pretty accurate with out having to get to close to the plane. If it still doesnt hit 200mph then i will go up to 8 cells and so on until the wings rip off or it hits 200 which ever comes first.
