chippedprop,

Sorry to hear that my friend....Looks like you have had much better luck with Strykers.

If there is anything I can help with let me know.

PM me if you want to try a new in a box MEGA 16/25/2.5RC 5mm shaft.
{Roughly 2300KV and you can run it at 80A in Funjet (6S max), higher AMPs in a Stryker (5S max) }

Hi!

Never posted any here before

I had read the hole tread last year, before I desired to go for a Mega 16/25/2. It has been a great experience!!! I reached147mph this weekend, wih a graupner 6,5x6,5 and just over 1260 watt. The new nano batteries from hobbycity is great! I use a 4cell 2200mah 75c burst. The measerment is from a hobbycity device, and only read the highest numbers.lol, so this is in a dive, ore at the end of one..lol

With this inspiration I desire to read whats new since last year. been reading this all night now, and found out that some are running this Mega 16/25/2on a 5cell!!!! In my dokuments that came with the engine, it says max 16volt. In the post of Three Four Left, his dokuments nowsays 20volt.. Hmm dont understand this maybe a diiferent type..says something about rotor? on the first link.

http://images.rcuniverse.com/forum/u...12/Av68497.pdf

http://www.puffinmodels.com/product.php?prod=809

Anyway, I`m planning on a new funjet with fibercloth, and a good setup. Thats way I need to now if the Mega setup will last on a 5cell? anyone flown it on 5cell for a longer period, andon what propeller?I use a CC80amp Esc with 120amp amp burst and aseperate CC.bec.

Hoping to reach about 155 - 160mph with the new one.

Very good tread this

Thanks.
Aleks

Here is some video of our new power system as run by Psionic in NSW. Running an ARC3655 inrunner on 6 cells with some wicked shaped apc scimitar style 7" props.

Awesome speed! I dont doubt those figures and what you guys downunder are accomplishing is amazing! Hats off to you!

.....if I may point out.

Your radar guy seems to get extremely excited. I noticed this in the other vid(s) also.

When taking a radar reading or a doppler reading the measuring device needs to be stationary. Not waving around as if filming.

You ever watch the cops with hand held radar? They hold it with both hands and very very still and allow the target to pass through!

Just my humble opinion

Not my video or my state so no way to control how its used With that said you would get a better higher reading by staying still, trying to follow the model as it passes will only reduce your reading I would think. I have held a gun and the speed come up before the model gets to you, so it really wouldnt matter about him moving, he will still have a peak reading before he moved.

He is also standing at an angle to the model which will lower the readings, I found this out when first holding a radar gun for some guys at the field.

Hi RCfriends!

I have been looking at the Mega 16/35/1,5R http://www.megamotor.cz/v3/script/de...ge_id=lang_engand wonder how many amps a 5cell lipoaround 2600mah 90c burst, with a 6x6 graupner prop on will make. I have a cc 125 amp ESC with 160 burst, but also a cc 80amp ESC with a 120 burst, and wonder if I should go heavy ore light. Any suggestion? Ore should I just stick with the 16/25/2 and run that on 5cell. It has almost the same kv, but could it take 5cell in the long run?

Thanks!

A

Default RE: FUNJET

alekshauge,

Go with Phoenix 125A ESC. That question was the easy part. Use that ESC for the 1.5S or 1.5R motor

6X6 and 5S will be a problem for the (2) motors that you mentioned due to their KV.

Without me checking the data; you will probably be better off with 16/40/1.5S or 16/40/1.5R both have lower KVs than 16/35/1.5R , and ofcourse 16/35/1.5S (2200KV)

I suggest you ask your question on the Stryker thread....tell them that you have a Funjet with limited cooling airflow as compared to what they are used to in a Stryker.
We might just run a test for you and give you actual data.

***Would be good to comment on max AMPs that you want to draw from your battery.

So when you comment on your desire to run 6X6 they can better help you with proper KV MEGA motor.

Also give serious thought to the 5mm "COMBAT" shaft, so that it will not bend during landings....(no extra charge)...use letter "C" such as 16/35/1.5RC

Make sure to comment on your flying style as far as max burst speed runs followed by long periods of cooling glides or if that you will stay on the throttle for longer periods of time.

USE MPI style full size heat sink and ask for links as needed:

Gryphon.. thanks for youre reply!

I dont need to go for a 6x6 prop, I just want a faster plane than the one I have now. Dont need to set a record if you now what I mean

What would you put in a coated funjet now days, without going to heavy? 4cell ore 5cell, but not too big battery, maybe around 3000mah lipo. Ore maybe 6cell ( 2x3cell 2200 mah ) dont now. Ouch here we go again..lol

For cooling I have scarved another hole behind the one that are in the plane out of the box. This seems to work ok. Direct airflow in too the engine, just streaming over the Esc.

I am going for a MEGA and a CC Esc. Just need to find the right combo

Thanks!

I was curious if this motor would be a good fit for the Funjet?

hoelshot,

MEGA 16/25/2C with 5mm shaft will have every single advantage that you can think of. $110-$114 ( 5-6 Weeks wait )

Higher capability as you go down the list. +5mm and extra 20 grams per each step.

16/30/1.5SCE

16/35/1.5RCE

Gryphon ... now that we have 45C batts and I bought 6 pieces of the 3S 2250s, I think I shall put my HET 2W/25 to good use! Bought the Ultra and I think will start to work on her soon. You think she will be ok with a mere HS65? Also am trying to finish off my original FJ with a Mega 16/15/3 tonight. That will be so sweet to fly as I keep her light, maybe on 3S 1500s

I would humbly suggest thinking about the following setup.

MEGA 16-35-2
Phoenix 125 (I used an ICE 100)
6s2650 (45/90)
APC 6x4 Sport, Graupner 5.5x5.5, and up through APC 6.5x5 or APC 6.5x6

Here is a video of the setup on an APC E 6x5.5

Hi!

Thanks for the reply Moparmyway.

That look like a good setup you have there. I really like youre handlauching too... really cool....

I Went with the MEGA16/25/1,5sc. Havent finished the plane yet, been lots of other things to do lately. Ihave fibercoated the hole plane, and put Robart hinges in the wings. Hope that will prevent what you show in youre youtube video... My F16 had its wing ripped of in the middle of the air, so I have learned the hard way, that we need some strength to keep them together.

Must say that the fibercoating made the plane really stiff, and were amazed of that. Also thatit doesnt feel so heavy that I was afraid off.

Think I will go for 2650 ore 3000 mah 4cell nano in it aswell,

Thanks.

Tom ... the more you fly her, the more you will get used to it. Soon you will say 100 mph is boooooring

Apache ... its not worth pushing a 3S set up too hard. Want speed? You need VOLTS. Simple as that ... using a 3S for speed means high amps, you can potentially overwork your batteries.

I think this is going to be a good reasonable setup for a 'Fast Quick Run'
We took it out last night and it was really shifting.. need a speed gun now : -)

For a 28mm motor it sure packs some punch! on 6 cells.. It come down and it was only slightly warm.
