Default viper shark edf, upgrade needed!!!

just got this viper as a birthday gift and must say I`m desipointed with the original motor, batt and esc combination. so desipointed that I have only flown 4 times on each batt.

it can climb 20-25 deg. but has not got the power to make a loop from straigt flight with wot

on both my 1300mah 15c art-tech batt. I get 4.5 minut mixed flight before the motor cuts of, and the batteries get so hot that I almost can`t touch them.

so i have to find a good solution on a motor+esc combo!!

standard setup:

64mm 6 blade fan
18L inrunner kv3300 Ø20x40
18amp esc
3s1p 1300 mah 15c lipo.

I`ve been thinking on using my 3sp1 2200 mah 15-25c lipo, tower pro 30-40 amp esc and then get a HXT 2040 (130L) 4850kv Brushless Inrunner

inrunner spec:

Motor Size: 2040 (130L)
Speed: 4850kv
ESC Required: 18A
Voltage Range: 6~12v
No Load Curr: 1.8A
Max Load: 25A

Diameter: 20.2mm
Length: 42mm
Front Mounting Hole Distance: 16mm
Front Mount Thread Size: M2.5
Shaft Diameter: 2.3mm
Shaft Length: 15mm

what do you guys think of this combo, will it work??
It will gain almost 100 grams of weight
or do you know of another combo that will work?

regards
Nicky

i've been eying this plane i was ready to make a purchase tomorrow but maybe its not a great idea... i've already got a guanli a10 that doesn't fly stock as advertised and a guanli p51 that crashed 10 feet from the ground because it couldn't hold its weight... now i look at this and i thought it might have been a good move but i'm starting to think different... i'm a neo in the hobby but i would really like to log some flight time...

how well does the viper shark fly stock?

I would give a blade trim a try... Simple remove every other blade turning the fan unit into a 3 blade, This allows for low draw on the power which may help with the battery issue , Higher RPM's on the fan and in some cases more thrust...

Just a thought, Might work....Might not....

I too was going to get this cool looking design! I opted instead for a YARDBIRDS Su-27 combo kit.
It was a wise move on my behalf.

I'm curious if anyone is able to get this Viper to perform vertical unlimited climb like the yardbird is able to do?

As to GUANLI, I have the PBY (it is an awesome flier) and also the ME-109 (not so great), but I put an eflite BL parkmotor in it and it, cut off teh tail wheel, andreplaced it with a dragger hook and now is fun to fly
