Looking at the Habu and the f86 Eflite .. Wondering which of the two DuctedFans would be a better choice?I think they both use the same motors and fans. Any thoughs?

Hi lou1947

I bought my Habu BNF for just over 300 locally. Same place has PNP for 230. Probably free ship to you.

Just didn't think I could finish the F86 for near that price (especailly with PZ parts).

Habu's a bit bigger and my eyes are 56.

In all honesty the Habu's still in the box and I'm in Urbana IL....so I'm depending on the universal good word on the Habu flight envelope. Being right here in RC Mecca I use a lot of, get Great service from and trust HH's "Just Fly" designs.

Have fun!

Loy: I have both planes, and the F-86 is trickier to fly. I just love the Habu,
and more that now I installed the retracts. A very good first ducted fan.

I would second the call for the Habu, much easier to land, line it up and cut the power and it pretty much lands itself

Thanks for the replies. I gather from the posts that I would be better with the Habu. I fly on grass and would not be using the landing gear. I have seen some flyers using a catapult to launch the planes. Can the Habu be hand launched or Would I be better of using the catapult?.

The Habu can be hand launched. In fact, I've seen people hand launch it inverted, and it seems to fly right out of their hand.

Go with the Habu - for sure. Especially for the $$$
Habu is an easy handlaunch (or takes off from grass just fine if you can stand the look of wheels hanging down). No bungee needed for Habu!
Habu is also an easy 5-cell upgrade with just an 80-A ESC change. INcredible performance and LOTS of vertical vs the 4-cells, and, especially vs the F-86.
I may see if I can stuff a 5-cell into the F-86 to see what happens because it is a very "trainer" like flyer with the stock power....
By the way- if you are worried about longevity, my Habu has over a hundred flights and probably 50 with the 5-C upgrade - so no worries there!
Just my.02c worth!

Hey-Thanks F82 Fan. I was wondering if anyone had done that upgrade and how it was working. I might have to do that myself. Roy

Question HABU 2 vs HABU SS

I acquired which I believe is a HABU 2 last summer and it has been flying great. Retracts, flaps and a 6S 3300mah setup w a Eflite 100A ESC.

I now need a replacement fuselage. Looks like the sizes are a little different. ie Length 43.3" vs 45" for the SS.

Question is whether the HABU 2 wing and tail will fit without too much modifications to the current SS fuse with a new canopy?

thanks

Anyone have some extra Parkzone Habu parts they’re willing to sell? Looking for the smoke clear canopy cover that flew off in flight and is now lost. Contact me!!
