I think you mean the SU-34 which has vectored thrust with two separate ducted fans. I agree this aircraft could do a hover, however the amount of wind and gusts that could be handled by this would be significantly less than that of a real 3D plane.
The minumum requirements for doing a sustainable hover with a ducted fan would be:
2 nozzels, both with gimbals
OR
3 nozzels without any gimbals
The Habu is a single nozzel with no gimbals and will not be able to hover. Once the aircraft reaches zero airspeed, there is no longer any control.

Well my Twister smokes my Habu for speed, but I still like the way the Habu feels flying. Who will be the first to put a Lambert in one?

Hey Flyrcjets, what do you think is the better of the 2, twister or habu? Which is easier to get ready, the more likely to survive rough landings, and least expensive to get flying well? I like the looks of both, but leaning more toward habu simply because of experience with PZ planes and multiplex as well. The older Mplx like twin jet and microjet are ok flyers, but kinda pricey to get flying for foam I thought. Let us know the major differences if you can. Thanks.

Tommorrow is the big day hoffman wild beast in the HABU. Around 72k rpm. I tested Delta fan standing behind a Plexiglass window and it held together. Only concerns at this point is the airframe holding together. Was going to fly it today but lost the water heater in the house so spent the first half of the day at home depot and playing plumber. Hoping for solid weather and easy work day to let me fly!
Wish me luck[sm=what_smile.gif]
Feeling pretty sketchy about it myself

I to have a Hoffman WB with a CC 125. Where did you mount your speed controller? Currently have my setup in a Sapac L-39. Just bought the Habu and thinking about flying stock first before converting. Will be flying with a XPS 4s 4000. Interested in your results. Will be hand launching with no gear.
Current setup gives up 2000 watts on 30c.

How difficult is it to service or R&R the EDF unit in the Habu?

That sounds very interesting, does anyone have a picture of the EDF installation? Has this method been used on other ARF jets?
I found this image, does the canopy allow this access?

super easy. It is mounted the way they should be, on a rail.

Fly my converted Habu yesterday. As stated it has a Hoffman WBeast, Wemo Pro, CC125 and XPS 4s/4000. Plane launches at 1/2 throttle and has ulimited vertical. I set the timer for 5 min and flew the whole time with about 6 high speed passes. Charged the battery after flight and it took 2960 mal. Could have flown for another minute. Plane tracks very well and with the rudder rolling circles are great. Working on making knife edge passes across the field after I mix out coupling.
Took me about 1 hour to convert. Had to extend leads to speed controller. CC125 easily mounts in nose and can be slid in place from under the canopy. Plane is a little nose heavy and takes about a 1/4 stick to level inverted flight.
Whole lot of fun.

Here are some shots of the Habu fuselage. The first shot is canopy access, the third shot is when the wing is removed.
The assembly was very easy but the weather has postponed my testing.

Because of the need to protect the plane from scratches/dents etc during transport to and from the airfield, I made a soft transport cover for the Habu.
I will carry the plane under my arm, when not in the car/buss/train. Also put on some foam to protect the tailunit from accidental bumps on objects/walls etc.

More pictures here the cover and the making of it:

Comments appreciated.
Alsowill have my maiden flight with the Habu (and my first plane) tomorrow
. Very excited.

Ihave been on RC forums for several years, without getting such a negative comment before.
You might not like a cover to use on the jet when traveling on public transport (as I have to, since I don't have a car).
The first thing I checked when I saw your post, was to see how many posts you had made previously, and to my big relief you only posted 3 times.
The way you act, you scare people away from the forum.
On another forum I visit alot (Helifreak.com)they have a motto:
Fun, Learning, Friendship and Mutual Respect....
You should learn from that.
Peace
