Default My parkzone HABU

Ok so I picked up the new Habu yesterday and had it ready to go in about 15 minutes. I bought the bnf version but I Fly futaba 2.4 so I sold the receiver and got another battery. Run time with a 14.8 3300 35c hyperion was about 4-5 minutes. When I recharged the battery I was able to put a little more than 2200 in so it consumed 66-70 percent of the battery. This plane flies very well great aerobatics.... great low speed flying and very easy to land in my opinion. So I am pleased with this product...

That was the positives and here are the negatives although these may not apply to you but this is how I like my planes to fly. Vertical power not so great.... on a full speed pass point it straight up into vertical and it would stall out and nose over after about 50 feet. Top speed I would say it is about as fast as a gremlin about 80-95 mph 95 on the generous side.

My fix.... I have to have unlimited vertical and I would like top speed to be in the 115-140 speed so I will be trying differnt fan units and different motors. Possibly even a 5s or 6s battery as well.

I will have more info tommorrow I plan on at least running a 6s battery tommorrow. Will update this post then.

awesome. i got mine the other day but its been miserable weather here really bad downpours but i plan to fly it sunday after work the weather is supposed to be much better then. i would love to see that thing with a 5s set up...should really haul. for the money that eflite motor is good but there are plenty better out there maybe mess with some NEU motors.

Hi!

I am a brandnew member of RC Universe.

I have been a pretty addicted heliflier for the last two years, but also wanted a plane to fly.
I wanted something fairly quick and challenging, because I am used to the adrenaline rush of heliflying/crashing.


I have tried my friends Stryker F27c (more powerfull motor) andit went well. Very fun!
Ialso wanted an easy to maintain plane, since heli repairs/maintenance takes so much time/money.


I decided on the PnP Parkzone Habu. It is on its way to Norway from Espritmodels.

4 batteries from Hobbyking is ordered and hopefully arrives soon (out of stock)

Can't wait.

NO! You will smoke the ESC and/or motor with a 5S battery and the motor is designed for a 3S-4S input voltage.

I am not sure what the max voltage is for a bl15 but no you wont smoke a 60 amp speed control with 5 cell or 6 cell. These speed controls are actually rated at 80 amps. I put a amp meter between the speed control and battery with a 4 cell 35c 3300 battery and only pulled 46 amps. with 5 cell his 53 amps and 6 cell hit 63 amps. I know of alot of guys with electric pylon racing planes that run power 60 motors and 60 amp speed contols with 6s no problem. Maybe there is something I dont know???

Here are the specs off of e flites website pertaining to the speed contol in the HABU so 6s is ok up to 75 amp burst.

Here are the specs on the motor so I think it will be ok on 5s questionable on 6s I would assume.... I will let you know if the bl15 goes up in smoke but I doubt it will. I am replacing it anyways so THROTTLE ON! lol

The motor has a 46A spec limit or 750 W. Guys are getting right at that limit with just 4S.

The ESC isn't in the direct airstream (intake or exhaust) so it's asking for trouble to overdrive it. The motor will fry the magnets if it gets too hot and it's now being driven at it's limit at 4S.

Horizon's Dave E. said they tried a 5S combo and neither the motor nor ESC liked it.

So without mods, I think you're going to cook something.

Yea without question. if im changing mine out in the future im putting a castle or somthing in there. ive seen guys smoke eflites by running regular specs...there good controllers but not one i would pick to push.

I am going to give it a shot with the ESC but yah I am sure the motor wont appreciate it. It is pretty cold here so with my 4s runs and all that thrust blowing through the motor my motor was actually cold when i landed and checked it. It was 20 degrees outside.

Did you mean to say 500 feet there? Mine gets a good 5 seconds after pull up till the vertical rolls get too slow for me and then I pull back into a reverse cuban, so I didn't let it stall. That's right in the neighborhood of 500 feet. I didn't test the top speed with a gun yet but I agree with your estimation.

I meant 250 feet possibly three hundred I went inverted real hard from about 10 feet off the deck. I have triple rates setup with my transmitter it was on ninja mode when i pulled back. So it was a 90 degree manuever.

i got to fly mine today. it was really windy and around 65 degrees. we ran its first flight with a thunder power 45c pack, went pretty good with it i also liked the balance of it (it was a 2250) second flight the stock eflite pack....it was ok didnt have the same punch which was a noticeable difference. the balance of it was waaaay more nose heavy(considerable difference in pack weight). even though its a small pack the weight and power of the 2250 4s 45c pack was worth it. i have some 4s 30c 2700s i wanna try, a little more weight but not alot, just going to have less punch.

all in all im really not that impressed with their stock pack...it was "ok" at best and personally i liked the plane more tail heavy it was capable of so much more still maintaining a good stability and tracking well.. but as for vertical i had at least around 250 feet before i pulled it around and it didnt stall out yet it still had momentum but was real windy so im curious on a calm day what i would get out of it.

If you guys want more speed. Chuck the stock power. Install the wemo fan, thin Mylar thrust tube. For 4s , use something around 3600-3800kv. Chuck those draggy fixed gears too! This ball park set up will put you 130-140.

130 mph? I don't think so. This is a big plane. Yes for a small F16, but this is as big as a Twister with a thicker wing and displaces a lot of air when it moves. You gotta show me how you can get that speed on a 70mm fan with a 4S setup (level flight no cheating!)

The stock setup isn't bad. It will turn heads at any park the way it is now. I've got other faster birds if I want, but this one stock is plenty good as designed.

On this plane? It just hit stores this week. How could you (or anyone) have flown a 70mm wemo fan in a Habu "for a long time?"

I need data with radar to back up what you're saying. All foam isn't created equal you know. Size matters

remember the plane is foam. Any heat from anything can and will melt it, results in a large smoking hole.

Well I found what motor I want to use so here is my next question to all the EDF guys out there where is a good place to buy a neu motor? I went on there website and almost all the dealers they had were out of business or didnt have a clue about the motors??

REALLY? Cause I've seen turbines in and on planes like funjets, Twister's etc..been nothing but fun & no smoking holes!
