L-39 Elevator Issues:
Hi Guys,
I came across this the other day in regards to the elevator. The pushrod is located and connected to the Elevator on left side. It seems that force of the high air speed keeps the right elevator from functioning up and down correctly when it is deflected up or down. So in essence, at full speed, you may only have half of an elevator functioning while traveling at the fastest speed the plane will go (Definitely Not Good if this is True?). Any comments on this? Thanks Ed :D |
RE: L-39 Elevator Issues:
Are you referring to the Great Planes Electrify L39?
If so, it's not an issue for the stock power setup. it takes very little elevator authority to fly the plane. For higher power conversions, flutter is an issue. If you're running 2.4, you don't need the antenna tube and you can utilize it as another conduit for a redundant elevator push rod. Add another control horn to the other elevator half and that stiffens up both. Either make a Y push rod, or add another servo (that's what I did). Joe |
