watts??? why have i got less of them than i should have>? help????

hi.
i seen loads of funjet ultras on youtube. and because of there performance i went with the same setups.
turnigy 1450kv, zippy 2650mah 5s 40c, hobbyking 100amp esc. and a 7x7 graupner speed prop.

i have just purchased a wott meter and when i ran it its only pulling 1250 watts? any ideas why everyone else is gettin 1600 an am gettin only 1250?

any help appreciated matey,. thanks

is your craft's performance what you expected it to be based on the vids you have seen?

factors:
quality of soldering job, meter quality, measurement errors, calibrations of meters, exaggeration factor, air density, relative humidity

Hi, would like to think my soldering is up to a pretty high standard but suppose ones good can be anothers crap, watt meter is only cheap about 15 quid from china. Do you manually calibrate them or factory set?? Erm as for is it what I exspected, yer I mean it's quick but again is it doing 140mph haha I don't no

uhhhhh their bad soldering could account for the higher watts<G>
a 65 c battery might make the difference.
lotta things make differences, some we just don't ever think about.

Have you checked the RPM?

A couple of things:

1. Measuring errors - If you're getting the same RPM as the guy that got 1600W then your doing fine (bad meter or more efficient)

2. Motor variation - If your getting less RPM, perhaps you're 1450kv motor is actually 1395kv (manufacturing variability)

Just some ideas.

What are the specs for the motor?

A 2650mah zippy pack (makes no difference what the C rating is), isnot up to the power levels of premium packs and if you want to make power and go fast you need to use the best batteries you can get. 1250 watts on 5 cells, if you divide it by 18 volts thats still 70A you are drawing for a 2650 pack, thats 26c constant, over 20c constant on ANY battery is not good, get yourself a 3200-4000mah 45c pack of known quality.

This is exact set up as others on internet same batteries and c rating everything the same only I'm using 2650mah batt they use 2200.

Sorry but its impossible to get sustained 88 amps out of a 2200-2600mah pack, likely they posted up the peak snapshot reading from the meter when the throttle was banged open, test your setup again, let it run for 10 seconds then record the volts and amps and let us know, it will show you whats going on with your battery, RPM would be ideal to go with it.

Ok when I get home later I'll get it on meter again I'll post what it's saying, and I'll get the tacho out and also note the rpm angle maybe that will tell you a little more info, thank you
