Hobby Top Gun Mig-15 Bashed

Got a maiden to do in the morning, a bashed Hobby Top Gun Mig-15. Weather sucks, so may have to wait, but the batteries are charged.

The model was filled and glassed, primed with latex and panel lines and rivets added.

Cockpit was vacuum formed

Afterburner ring lights and nav lights with landing light (I know Mig15's did not have afterburners!)

Gear doors with sequenced inner gear doors on the main gear.

Working wing racks, E-Flite bomb releases.

Pretty cool when a maiden involves a nose-heavy groove adjustment, instead of the tail-dragging dance of airborne deathstall-ness!

What's more, this MiG driver now gets to REMOVE nose weight and watch his flight envelope expand! Double-cool!!

Awesome transformation of a stock ARF into a real model? TRIPLE-cool!!!

And need I mention the red-hot tailpipe, best part of the whole dang thang?

QUADRUPLE BYPASS needed -- my heart can't take all this Dionysus Bacchanalia Excelencia Aeronautica !!!!

lol! Hi John, nice to see you around! This Mig is such a great flyer, kind of sad that the interest is so low on it. I can land now on the mains and keep the nose wheel off the ground until it slows down, pretty cool! Tank drop works great and yes on cloudy days that tail pipe looks cool!http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1934590 Another day at the field, this time next to my friends turbine (P-100) F-100, they are about the same scale.

John in Boston 10-30-2013 02:07 PM

Yes, Luke, I am glad to see you are in the fray, and then some! Unfortunately I have not been active, but I am planning a return shortly. Will keep you posted.

John in Boston 10-30-2013 03:14 PM

Also Luke, a very nice coincidence for me is that since you and I last wrote I designed in 2006 a MiG-15 in 1/10th scale and a MiG-17 in 1/12th scale, both as "PSS" slope soaring gliders. I began each of them, and/but/however I got so nutty due to my ridiculous OCD that they each ran aground before ever getting finished. I will get pics for you; but now I have a dinner to make and a World Series clincher game to watch!

Luke, there's not much to see, but below please find a link to where the above-mentioned MiG-15 build left off; my last progress was in March 2009.

I hope RC Universe does not object to me posting a link to a thread on RC Groups... hopefully this will work for you:

Delusional wanna be! lol! Oh, the comfort ignorance can provide! lol! Well I hope you enjoyed your game! Man, John is into jets, cool! I'm into turbines now, I have a BVM Bobcat with a Jetcat 80, but I enjoy all the variety the hobby has to offer. I hope you will finish your project, I will keep an eye on it.

Luke

LOL! OK John, I may be confused about your slogan, I was just thinking about it and it's a contradiction because someone that is delusional can't be a wanna be! I took it the wrong way thinking you wanted to be delusional but you are to intelligent to be so!

Delusional: a persistent false psychotic belief regarding the self or persons or objects outside the self that is maintained despite indisputable evidence to the contrary; also: the abnormal state marked by such beliefs

Fun stuff!

Luke,

Fantastic project! This is the kind of creativity and craftmanship that makes these forums interesting. Thank you for taking the time to document the process. Keep up the good work.

Jeff

Appreciate that Jeff! It has been a great project and I'm enjoying it at the field, glad to hear that some others found it interesting!

Luke
