Dr Mad Thrust 90 mm EDF problems
 

I designed and built a DH Vampire around a Dr Mad Thrust 90mm EDF all went well until I ran it up to full power and then the fan stopped and the ESC went up in smoke,lucky I was able to get it out of the plane before it got any worse, when we checked we found that the fan must have been out of balance and flew out against the shroud, this was my first attempt at EDF is this a common thing with EDFs Mike

I would say it is not a common thing with quality EDF units, but you are talking about Lander built budget stuff for HK, therein lies the difference! You get what you pay for with electronics and unfortunately the bling factor and price get people in, the QC shows up down the track! :rolleyes:

Thank you for the info, I have been building stuff for over 65 years and ducted fans have always held my intereest so when I saw some of the new foamy EDF planes fly I had to give it t try, to old to soon to smart to late I guess Mike
