Freewing T-33 Shooting Star 80mm EDF Jet

These are my videos for the new Freewing T-33 Shooting Star 80mm EDF Jet.

Unboxing:

Maiden Flight:

Here are the review notes for this Freewing T-33 EDF Jet:

Pros:
- Parts and pieces come polybagged for protection
- High-end finish on the model
- Setup was basic and straight-forward
- Robust landing gear for grass friendly ops and hard landings
- New powerful and efficient 80mm in-runner 9-blade EDF setup
- Model officially licensed by Lockheed Martin
- Split flaps
- It was locked in the entire flight!

Cons:
- Missing paint on the back of the canopy
- The left main blew out of the wing on the third landing

That is awesome!

This is the Maiden Flight posted above featuring GoPro Footage from my head on my other YouTube channel. Listen to the very end after John stops recording to hear my unfiltered thoughts on the jet lol

Loving this jet. I have five flights on mine so far, converted to turbine. Here is a video of the maiden flight:

This jet looks really cool. Love the profile of the T-33. Think it would be a good beginner jet? I've only flown Warbirds

Thanks. Yes, this would make an excellent first jet. It flies like an easy pattern plane. If you can fly a warbird you won’t have any problems. Here is a more recent video filmed with my Soloshot3:

The first thing I would rip out are those horrible draggy wing tip tanks, believe me, it will fly so much better with out them.

JohnVH 08-27-2020 07:09 AM

It flies awesome with them, and looks better.

I agree, flies awesome with them, and it would not look nearly as cool without them:)

Hi All,

Could anyone possibly tell me the height of the nosewheel and strut when down from ground to mount, please? Mine seems a little low giving negative incidence, hard to rotate.

Thanks in advance

i can get that measurement for you, just clarification, you want to know the distance from the bottom of the nose wheel to top of the strut?

136mm from the ground to retract trunion, this includes the steering arm.

Don't worry about the measurement, just pack it up with the ply thick enough to give you more positive AOA, simple fix, or shorten the mains, which ever is more practical.

This is my way of doing things, I know which flies and looks better. But than again, this is 10+kW GIANT.

Easy to find out which is better, I flew it both ways.

Jason R. 01-21-2022 03:07 AM

Thanks for the measurement and other advice.

Great work in this thread guys! :D

This video has a lot mixed in it, including some forgotten fun before an incident with my T-33, along with helping folks fly a Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S.

hi
I want to try an EDF conversion to turbine.. could you tell me where did you order your trust tube and tank?

i found trust tube in rc-castle but don't know what size I will order. Could you tell the length and the diameter of what you have used?
