whats a halfway decent radio for this jet, also this is my first plane, i am trying to save money by buying the things i need for it from different places.

i don't think a jet would really make a good first plane. as you probably know, they tend to be pretty fast, which is not good for a beginner, and they are harder to control. you should probably start with a trainer, and get a jet later. you can use the same radio equipment, and servos etc.

Hey 1992ds -

Samx is right when he said that a jet is not a first plane. You have so much to learn about control which needs to be learned with something that gives you time to correct your self such has a GWS slowstick or GWS tigermoth. Both of these planes are flown using elevator and rudder. Once you have gotten the hang of either plane then you move on to a aileron trainer such has a GWS E-starter. After you have gotten the hang of an aileron plane you then move onto a faster plane such has a GWS formosa or GWS warbird which are low wing planes (not the p51 its a bit difficult even for some more experienced fliers). After you have gotten a lot of stick time with those planes you can then move onto that Alfa mig. Now don't think I am trying to pop your bubble but I am telling you from my own personal experience. I will outline my progression below and you will see I practice what I preach.

First Plane - Firebird XL (Great little flier)
second plane - GWS tigermoth (Second plane for me but 1st for a lot of people. Great slowflier, I learned rudder pretty good)
Third plane - GWS Corsair ( I know I mentioned a aileron trainer but I also fly glow planes which have aileron so I was pretty familiar already).
Forth Plane - Zagi 400 - So I can learn how to fly with a elevon setup (haven't maided her yet)
Fifth Plane - Bob E-Cat which is waiting to be built for next flying season.


Now you might say wow the word "GWS" comes up quite a lot thats because the planes are so affordable and if you crash them they are pretty much rebuildable. I also have the followings planes waiting to be built.

Alfa Corsair
GWS Formosa .

Well thats it for now. I see that you are located in NY. I live in Queens and fly my glo planes in Brooklyn and my E planes either in Cunningham park in Queens or a park closer to my home around the JFK area. If you ever want to hookup for some flying let me know. The flying community is great and before you know it both of us will be flying Jets shortly.

BTW: If you read this today my Glo club is having a Jet show today. Tons of guys with Turbine jets. I am actually heading out there hoping to win the raffle for a BVM jet. So great day.
