eTurbax EDF system for a U-2???

Does anyone have any experience with the eTurbax system offered by Jet Hangar??? I was thinking of designing a U-2 airframe around the system because it seems to put out close to the same amount for thrust as the BVM unit for a much lower cost. I plan on building a plug so I can make fiberglass fuses. I expect the wingspan to be around 100 inches. Please let me know what you guys think.

Funkworks, i'm sure the JHH fan is ok. If you want the same power but lighter setup you can go with the Aeronaut T/F 4000. 120mm fan all carbon fiber and light as a feather. Power it with the Neumotor 1912-1Y motor and Castle 110 hv esc. This is a 3000 watt setup on 10 lipo at 5000 mah. 10-11lbs thust and impressive top end. The man to talk to is Chris True. Doug

You might want to check out the United Hobbies 5"-I bought one to experiment with but haven't matched it up to a motor it, as yet. I have a 104" U2/TR1 on the bench about 60% done. I have a WeMoTec Midi with an Aveox/Phoenix 60 I want to try in it. I originally built the fuse around a Turbax/Rossi combo, which at that scale, makes the fuselage larger than scale. I think for a 100", the Midi size might work out better. Just my opinion. Bill

RE: eTurbax EDF system for a U-2???

Thanks for all the info guys. I will look into both. This will be my first EDF project or jet for that matter. I plan on getting a cheap foam jet to play around with while Im building this one. I was estimating the model weight to be about 10-12lbs so the Aeronaut would be more than enough. I liked the BVM unit but it was just too expensive and seemed like an overkill since Im really looking for a decent system that will get my bird off the ground and fly a basic traffic pattern.

Bill...do you have any pics of your project???
