Receiver Range

I'm just starting out on electric flight soarer's in the UK (35Mhz) and require an Rx (Futaba) for a 2 mtr soarer. Can anyone help me with a site link that will provide me with information relating to the distance at which receiver signals can be picked up? eg: what type of receiver I should use for approx 1 mile radius signal (last thing I want is to loose plane on first flight). Thanks in advance.

As far as range goes, I have flown 2 meter planes with a Hitec AM radio with a 3000 foot (approx 1 KM) range and have gotten to speck height many times with no problems. I would not recommend this radio for a 3 meter plane as they can get further out and still be seen, but for a 2 meter I think this range should be more than adequate.

If you are looking or receivers for your FM Futaba radio, I can recommend the Hitec micro 555 five channel and Hitec Electron 6 six channel micro receivers. They are tiny, light and both have ranges in excess of 1 mile or over 1.6 KM. Hitec has Futaba compatible receiver in the US, I am sure they also have them for the UK.

All brands of transmitters and receivers are compatible with each other, without regard for the whole positive/negative shift thing outside the USA and Canada. They're all positive shift, even Futabas and Hitecs.

Thanks Matt. I didn't know that. Any idea why we have pos/neg shift here?
