Help with Electric System

I am new to Electric Planes. I am considering the Foamy Factory Ultimate Bipe. I have significant glow plane experience both flying and building.

Will fan fold foam work well for this plane, or should I get some Depron?

Here is the power set up I am considering:

GWS EPS 350c BS/BB Motor with gearbox
GWS 12x6 prop
GWS Pico Receiver and Crystal to use with my Futaba 6xas
9.6 volt 650 KAN Pack with JST connector
Pixie 20P Brushed speed control
Tower Hobbies TS-5 High Speed Nano Servos

Is this the correct setup? Can I quick charge this battery pack? Do I need a separate pack for rx? Anything I am forgetting?

I want to do some 3d with this. Will this system work out for me?

fan fold will work fine, depron is lighter but less durable.
which size ub are you building? I had a 30 inch made of blu cor and ran it on both a brushless as well as the 350c but found the 12x6 to be to much prop for it,but that was with 3cell lithiums. If you do run the 350 make sure you swap the spur and pinion for D gears or youll kill that motor with a big prop. Also its bad to run jst connectors on anything that big so swap to deans polarized. This plane will 3d with the gear you mentioned(after swapping spurs and pinion)but Im not sure of the batt pack. I run lithium and dont have knowledge of nimh weights.

RE: Help with Electric System

Thanks for the reply. I will build my first plane with fan fold. I am looking at the Ultimate Bipe 30" or 3dx.

As far as the spur and pinion, I am confused. I am looking at Horizons site. They have Spur gear, 60T, 62T,64T, etc. Is that the gear on the motor? Which one is a D gear?

They list a NYA PINION GEAR D: EPS 300C/350C. I assume that is what I need.

The motor is: 350C BB MOTOR & GEARBOX, 6.60:1
(GWSEPS350CDS)

The pixie 20p has BEC so I wont need a separate battery for the receiver.

RE: Help with Electric System

Can anyone advise me on a battery? I don't have a lithium charger. I do have a charger that charges Ni Cads or Nimh at 750 mAh. I would like to use Nimh. I believe they need to be fast charged at their rated capacity. Is that correct? A 750 mah rated pack should be fast charged at 750 mah??? Would a GWS 9.6V 730MAH NI-MH pack be a good way to go, or is there better?

That is the D motor and you wont need to change anything. For future refference, the spur is the big gear on the gearbox and the pinion is the little on on the motor. The 64 tooth is the replacement spur for the d box

As for a battery recomendation I am not the one to ask, Im on lithiums. If you do come over to the lite side there are $30 dollar chargers out there

could I run lithiums with this motor and speed controller? Where could I find a decent $30 charger?

RE: Help with Electric System

yes, that plane and motor will work good with a Thunderpower 2s 1320 or a Kokam 2s 1500.

www.allerc.com sells the appachee charger for $34 it will charge a 2 cell
www.hobby-lobby.com sells a few for under $30

I use a Triton charger to charge everything I have but it cost $120
If you already have a charger you like, then just buy a cheap lithium only charger.[8D]

PS. that plane flys better with a 10x4.7 12x6 has too much torque
