Help with ESC sizing
Hi all,
I'm quite new to RC flight, and I recently bought a Graupner Terry, it is sized for a size 400 motor, I also bought their prop and spinner for it. My question is, how big of ans ESC (amps) do I need? Is there a chart or web page somewhere that helps you calculate ESC sizing? Thanks, Tom |
RE: Help with ESC sizing
Unfortunately, no such table exists. There are too many factors to contend with. Cell count and propeller size will DRASTICALLY change the ESC requirements, as will the type of Speed 400 motor you're talking about. Given the range of Speed 400 applications, you could be looking at as little as 7 Amps, or as much as 15 Amps.
The nice thing about ESCs is that you can't go wrong by getting one that's too large. Too small is another story, but too large is definitely okay. A 20 Amp ESC will cover your butt quite nicely :) |
