firebird commander
Hello I am purchasing a firebird commander for my first plane. I was wondering what kind of aerobatics this plane can do. Also what igsactly are these aerobatics can any 1 explain? I know it listed 3 when it explains the commander but I dont what the different aerobatics do

RE: firebird commander
As a fellow newbie with a commander I can say for the first week or two you're not going to be concerned with aerobatics (unless you're gifted). I have seen one of my friends do a loop (4 of us fly Commanders together), but I don't think it was intentional. Other than that it's a pretty straight forward circles, stalls, and spirals plane.
STILL it's a VERY DURABLE first plane and a lot of fun in expert mode with the shim. |
RE: firebird commander
My son and I fly and crash our Firebird Commanders every chance we get. We're both new at it. I bought other planes that were supposed to be "trainers" or "for beginners", but found them to be either underpowered or difficult to fly. Reason we like the Commander is for the ability to switch over (after learning) to an expert mode when we'll get into fancier flying.

RE: firebird commander
hello there!!!!
Responding on your question i can say that to execute a Looping with your FireBird Commander is not a big deal!!! all you have to do is : 1-not attempt to execute the looping on your first 5 flights....wait a bit to earn some experience. 2-When you get into the Proffessional mode DO NOT attempt to execute Loopings on your first flight Pro. wait and earn some experience on that mode. 3-When you get ready in Pro. Mode i can tell you one thing that i experienced one mounth ago: FLIGHT HIGH about 30fts (10M) above the ground, when you're established on 30fts begin your acceleration for about 10 sec and DO NOT turn right or left, after that maintain accelerating and trun at the same time in a way you can get wind direction on your tail DO NOT and EXTREMLY NOT continue your turn with acceleration on, for more than 6 secs because if you exceed the aircraft max speed witch is 30km/h your wing will fold up and brake and your bird will get ground faster than lightning (witch happened to me one mounth ago and fourtunatly i was flying in a 30 cm height grass field that absorbed the shock and kept the electronics safe !!!!)okay when you turn while accelerating your aircraft will gain enough speed and all you'll have to do is pull back your finger off the direction stick and than after when you aircraft is flight straight you'll have to accelerate back again with out turning so that you get the peek point and you'll see the aircraft flip back and execute the looping ... thats all fly safe and enjoy your hollydays !!! cIAO |

EXTREMLY NOT continue your turn with acceleration on, for more than 6 secs because if you exceed the aircraft max speed witch is 30km/h your wing will fold up and brake and your bird will get ground faster than lightning (witch happened to me one mounth ago and fourtunatly i was flying in a 30 cm height grass field that absorbed the shock and kept the electronics safe !!!!) I do suggest that you strengthen your wing with packing tape before flying in expert mode if you think you're going to kiss the ground with any force. Even in standard mode you should at least put a piece of packing tape on the back side of the wing just past the diameter of the propeller. If you land a bit off and your wing touches the ground first while your prop is running you will without a doubt take a chunk out of your wing. |

BUT FOR THE WING FOLDING THING THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT THE WING OF FOLDING UP ON HIGH SPEED IS TO REENFORCE IT IN THE MIDDLE AREA OF IT !!! I REALISED THAT AFTER THAT LAST CRASH I DID !!!! SO PEOPLE BE PATIENT AND DO NOT EXCEED THE LIMITS.... HAVE A NICE AND SAFE FLIGHT |
RE: firebird commander
Do you use the plastic covering or the hard plastic binding? Either would be a good idea.

RE: firebird commander
I own one of these and i also own a T-Hawk check it out try readytoflyfun.com
it has a taill& rudder set up on it. not a bad plane as well. my comander is ok I have bought many of these planes and parts for them and am trying different things, motors wings the electronics are not very serviable on hobbyzone planes like servos, recievers even if you want to change the motor which I have tried as well you have to open up the fusalage To make the tail last longer I took a pin and poked it in the tip of the tail then I ran fishing line at the top of the V to keep it from folding out. not too tight i tied a couple fishing knots at eack end this kept the top of the tail from going flat i also have folded some wings on high G loops i am working on putting a wire in the bottom of the wing to streanthen it when doingloops with high G. When buying anyreplacement wing look close at them in the hobbyshop if ther are any creases in the wing thats were they bend I don't think they are packaged well when shipped but at $15-$18 a pop i want the best wing for my buck same with tails Is any one using any other manufacturers wing on thes fusalagesjust curious have fun Tmm |

hEY !!!!
I hard experiences while flying the Firebird Commander after i replaced it's wing into the Aerobird wing ... the aircraft lost it's straight turn capacity and its too difficult to control the aircraft in straight areas !!! to turn you'll have to give it its time and its one hell of dangerous thing when you're surrounded with some trees !!!! I noticed that the Aerobird wng tips are not folded up as much as the Commander's ones and that particularity provides the Commander to break right and left fast and straight !!! NOTICE that i did one unique flight with that wing and on Automatic mode !!!! I suggest you to look for wings that have a large wing surface to maintain the semi sail-plane propety and folded wing tips to maintain the ability for straight and stable turns. That's all for now SEE YA:::::: |

RE: firebird commander
Just a note. I have been flying foamies (early ARF's) from 20 years ago and again started this spring. Yes all the foam wings fold up on high g loops. A simple and cheap mod is the following: Go to Staples or another office supply store and purchase a roll of fiberglas reinforced strapping tape. On the Firebird run at least 1 if not 2 strips of tape lenghwise evenly spaced alone the wing, the same can be done for the tail. Run the tape all the way across the wing from wingtip to wingtip. You will find this greatly reinforces the wing without adding weight. I have moved on to 1/4 scale now but the aerobird extreme I started on again is still flying, capable of vertical flight and extreme loops without folding the wing. As to higher capacity batteries at lower cost. Check on the other auction place and you will find the same voltage batteries with as much as 2 or 3 times the capacity. My Aerobird extreme flew over 1/2 if I wanted it to. Just my 2 cents worth. Enjoy!! |
