Hi Matt, long time.

I just put a Himax 2015 brushless and a Kokam 11.1/1500 in the Beaver....it's way too fast. I lost it in a tree the other day up about 60'. We were able to get it out with a baseball and a 40' ladder. I am getting awesome flight times with this setup however, close to 25 minutes. I have a 2025 ready to go into the GWS P-51 I'm building.

My question was if you had any info on better props to use than gws 1080ep. They seem to flex alot and don't stand up to good in tall grass or nose downs.

I also felt bad about learning ailerons on the p-51 because it looks too cool to trash and the wing looks a little too aerobatic. So I bought a Formosa to learn on... I thought it was more stable with the higher wing and smaller control surfaces...input???

I put the 2015/4100 in my Beaver too. Use 2s l200 lipos, C gear, 10-8 gws prop. I like this setup.
I tied 3s and and it's way overpowered. Goes straight up though.
I wish the props didn't break so easy too. Would an apc be a little more durable?
A couple other guys have the 2015/3600 on B gear, 2s, and 10-8, and really like it. Goes about the same as my setup.

I just finished the p51 but i am going to try the stock motor first to get the hang of ailerons. How do you like the Beaver??
I went crazy taping the wing and stab and now it flies like a champ...I was getting inverted in a half loop then trying to hang upsidedown for a while. But now with the new power, it's crazy man.

Do you have a link to apc props???

Love the Beaver. Wouldn't be without one. It llooks scale in the air, and touch and go's are so fun.
12 people who have seen it have bought one.
Can't believe how much wind they will fly in.
Good idea to try out the P51 stock first. Ailerons aren't that big a deal really. They roll the plane so you have to roll it back level.
Other than that they turn about the same as rudder. There are differences but both turn the plane along with up elevator.

BEAVER'S RULE! I'm building my 3rd one. This one'll have an AXI 2208/34 left over from a trashed ShockFlyer. On a 3 cell LiPo you can hover the Beav until the stock motor goes; the smoke looks cool though.:D I even got a way to cure the wing flutter. Gary

I crashed the p51 for the third and final time today. It's is just too advanced for me. The wings are almost swept forward and are very low making for nerve racking instability and a constant need to correct (which for me results in over corrections).

I am looking for an easier 4ch plane but can't seem to fin one in foam that isn't less than 30".
I am leaning towards the Watt Age Super Impress But not too sure about dealingwith fixing balsa.

If anyone has an suggestions...I'm open.

I flew my Beaver the rest of the day and I love it. Getting good at inverted flight too.

:D The Wattage Impress should be good. There's a fellow in my club with one but he souped it up with a Jeti Phazer and LiPos. The trouble with most Wattage planes is battery access. On most of them you have to remove the wing to get at it. They still fly nice though, GWR:)

That's a good point, I never thought of access on balsa. I had a Goldberg Lightning Bug and it had the same condition (remove wing for battery), I brought it back thinking I would trash the balsa. It looked like a nice flyer though.
What I like about the Super Impress is its size. It seems to be big enough to be able to fly in more windy conditions than Beaver.
That has been my problem with the p51 too. It's been a windy summer so far and it looks like it's getting worse with the ammount of hurricanes we are expexted to get.

I was also thinking...I have Kokam 11.1/1500 batteries so it wouldn't be to big of a deal to take the wing off if I was getting 25 minutes a flight out of one too.

Do you know of any other alternatives GWR?
